Simplicity and organization can be very Zen, my friend.

Perhaps instead of judging yourself so harshly, you consider that others may see the positives of simplicity and small-scale as well.

Not everybody needs big and flashy. Utilitarian isn’t a bad thing. Utilitarian simplicity can be its own art form.

A long screed but has this jackhole who writes so unprofessionally even reached out to Mullvad for comment or explanation? Because that’s usually what respectable journalistic outfits do.

They don’t post some screenshots, make inferences without knowing all of Mullvad’s backend, and say “what we are saying is definitely true and there’s no possible way we could technically be wrong.”

I can think of several ways they could be wrong, it would have been helpful to have any statement from Mullvad, because they might have a technical reason for this (up to and including making sure their emails aren’t disappeared as spam, because running your own email server sucks.).

Anyway, pretty unprofessional and makes me pretty skeptical of the claims until more solid evidence than a screenshot surface.

For example, who is to say that Mullvad hasn’t set up their own client side encryption keys? This is an option Google offers for use with business accounts. This effectively means Google doesn’t have your keys nor can read your emails.

It took me five seconds of searching to find this. Did the guy who wrote this article even try?

The fact is that Serj is a class traitor.

All Landlords Are Bastards.

He can talk all the good talk all he wants but he’s renting a luxury place for $6000 a month.

Oh I’m sure there will be. It will be technically difficult (but not impossible) for them to allow other app-stores and sideloading but have the hardware and software be different enough in both markets to not have some slip through.

I suspect there will be lots of hacky shit for this.

You can’t do this ridiculous shit to me this early in the morning.

Take your upvote and get out!

They don’t call it “the banality of evil” for nothing, I suppose.

Notepad is heavily used as an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) by a lot of people. It’s not exactly a good development environment but it is nonetheless. I would actually argue Notepad is used primarily by programmers, and that casual Windows Notepad users are in the extreme minority. The whole reason it’s so heavily used is because unlike WordPad or Word, it doesn’t include formatting data, which can fuck up computer code.

Notepad++ for example is literally built to be more like an actual IDE and supports color-schemes and indentations for numerous computer programming languages.

Microsoft isn’t entirely stupid (just mostly), and in knowing this, they’re pushing to put their programming Copilot where they think it needs to be: Inside IDEs, which to them includes Notepad.

It’s the fault of the pilots for not understanding undocumented things and not having checked plug doors nuts before taking off !

Pretty sure they got away with not fully fixing this one by whining to the FAA that the full fix would be too costly.

Like, what is the fucking use of our institutions like the FAA if all they god damned do is rubber stamp this shit for their corpo fuckwit buddies?

It’s still very much a beta in a lot of ways, but PineTab could maybe handle PDFs

Linux Hijinks (reddthat.com)

So, like I needed any more projects or any more computers, but I bought a receipt printer and two POS terminals. Both are Celeron J1900 I think at 3Ghz, 128G hard drive and I’m not sure of the memory. All that cost me a whopping $45, so how could I resist? Right now we’ve got the POSBANK unit working, you can see me updating...

Lastly the printer… Not sure what to do with this, any suggestions?

Try to build an equivalent to the GameBoy Camera? It used receipt paper.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Boy_Camera#Functionali…

You might have to search for a low-resolution black & white camera, though, to really make it work.

Anyway, that would be my dumb project for a receipt printer.

Everything said here in this comment is theoretical and in Minecraft.

If they are shutting down but haven’t shut down yet check to see if any other sites are doing open signups for refugees on your sites forums. That’s how I got elsewhere before baconbits shut down, with it being my only tracker.

The community really is a community and when they know in advance a site is shutting down, they usually get together and put out invites on that sites forums for others to use as an “escape hatch.” They will still want to see an account in good standing.

Also, take screenshots of your account info so when the site shuts down you can still use it as proof you had an account in good standing. Many sites still have open sign ups and good past accounts go a long way to being let in. I’m not sure if Lemmy has an open sign ups thread like reddit did.

If you can, try to “diversify” and get on a handful of sites, choosing ones particular to your interests, of course.

Anyway, good luck in avoiding all of that!

It’s a non-answer that their privacy policy explicitly states that they will collect this type of information and that they stipulate what kind parties they can share that info with?

www.plex.tv/about/privacy-legal/

That’s the straightest answer that you’re going to get. Privacy policies like this are bullshit, but they’re also the norm so acting like it’s a non-answer after 20 years of this being the norm seems a little… naive, perhaps?
