I haven’t seen a single browser that didn’t support webp

WebP is also great for doing animations with transparency on mobile. Transparent video is barely supported and gif is terrible. WebP is really the only option

Dunno about “nobody.” Tons of sites use it. Hell, Telegram uses it for stickers exclusively. We use it everywhere on my job’s website

It performs significantly better than existing formats what are you talking about

Remote work fixes that for many people

Source: me, hi, I work remotely to LA and get paid absurd wages

Having been to the UK and Germany, it’s incredibly convenient and much quicker than driving in many cases. I’ve used the metro where I live and it’s also much quicker, the only issue is the closest bus stop is 20 minutes away by foot. That’s easy to fix though.

Oh sure, I agree that it’s not always perfect, but neither is driving. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been randomly stuck in gridlock because someone got in a crash on the freeway.

The issue here is entirely that there is no choice that can be made. You either drive, or you don’t go anywhere. I don’t want to need a car, I want to want a car. Cars are convenient, but when they’re required to do literally everything then they’re a massive inconvenience.

If I was able to make a choice, I could share a car with someone else. As it stands, we both have to own one.

Oh sure, obviously people like cars, but in the cities we’d park and switch from car to rail because it’s significantly faster. I also stayed in the city for a couple of weeks and didn’t need a car at all.

Compare that to the US where you need a car or you die, even in the city, and it’s not even a contest.

Not exactly doable since living spaces legally must have egress windows, and shopping malls… Don’t really have many outer walls for that compared to the amount of space internally they have

Houses should not be investments. They break down and should depreciate like any other physical asset. If you built your retirement solely on your house then that’s nobody’s fault but your own.

Stumblinbear,
@Stumblinbear@pawb.social avatar

Cars are investments for banks too, but I’m specifically talking about buyers. Selling a house for more than you bought it is the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen, and that’s coming from someone buying a house as we speak. I should not be able to sell this thing for 2x its value in ten years.

I like the post but had to downvote it because the English is atrocious

See the thing is I’m fine with it because I know my parents wouldn’t have spied on me 24/7. If they were helicopter parents and DID check where I was every hour of the day I wouldn’t be fine with it.

Vape is just propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine, both food safe, with typical food flavoring additives

Gen z is notoriously tech illiterate for anything but the bare minimum. The amount that have never touched a PC or anything other than an iPhone is incredibly disturbing.

The redirect thing is definitely just Firefox being weird. It’s generally a basic redirect that triggers a return-to-app, and Firefox isn’t following the redirect properly

Stumblinbear,
@Stumblinbear@pawb.social avatar

Bewarned that the mobile Firefox app is really not great.

  • I am a chronic tab-user (I have more than a hundred open right now. Yes I’m using pretty much all of them.) and 70% of the time when hitting the tab button it doesn’t actually scroll to the most recent tab. I have to tap it repeatedly to get to where I was.
  • The tab list is horribly wasteful when it comes to space and I see no way to change it.
  • Some sites also shit the bed completely when auto-filling from my password manager. Like full on freeze the browser or crash it entirely.
  • When an app opens Firefox in an embedded browser to get you to log in, it will pretty much never direct you back to the app after putting your information in. You have to tap the three dots and open it in the actual app for even a chance that it will properly redirect you.
  • For 2fa sometimes this doesn’t even work. I have to scan my 2fa key then quickly open it in the actual app through the menu before it finishes loading, otherwise it doesn’t redirect or gets stuck in a login loop. Fun.

The browser is fine overall, don’t get me wrong, there’s just some inconveniences that aren’t getting fixed.

#5 is the worst rule there. I’ve been called that for the most milquetoast of statements. You really have to be more specific. This community sounds like an annoying pain to be a part of tbh, I don’t have time to feel like I’m stepping on glass every day

Stumblinbear,
@Stumblinbear@pawb.social avatar

In a normal conversation you’d absolutely come across as a massive dick. You don’t have “resting bitch font” you just sound absolutely insufferable. You can make your point while not being a dick about it, you just need to choose your words better and not go for the “uh huh, definitely, here’s why you’re wrong and why I’m right, now piss off”

Stumblinbear,
@Stumblinbear@pawb.social avatar

Yeah I don’t think that’s the issue,

That’s absolutely the issue. You were being condescending. If you can’t be polite then don’t respond at all.

Stumblinbear,
@Stumblinbear@pawb.social avatar

Someone else already mentioned your “go on, tell me” and “thanks for playing along.” Both of those offer nothing to the conversation and only exist to be condescending.

Stumblinbear,
@Stumblinbear@pawb.social avatar

Literally just don’t say that. The entire rest of your comments were generally “fine” but you included hostile, unnecessary wording.

Stumblinbear,
@Stumblinbear@pawb.social avatar

Clearly you have no sense for nuance. Not everything anyone disagrees with is siding with genocide and oppression just because they disagree. It’s concerning that that’s immediately what you assumed.
