Swarfega, (edited ) to memes in How I like my pi

I’ve ran Pihole for years but switched to NextDNS. It gives me more control over my kids access.
For example scheduled access to YouTube and Roblox. Also, since it’s a public service it means I can block them regardless of network. So for example when we are on holiday. My eldest worked out he could use network data on his phone to avoid the Pihole.

Oh, and it’s DNS over TLS so queries are now encrypted rather than plain text that regular DNS.

None of this will block YouTube ads though. For that I use NewPipe or Firefox and uBlock Origin.

Yeah, I don’t recall seeing that and installed it about four times.

Swarfega, to fuck_cars in MAY USE FULL LANE

This is the case with bike lanes at times. They gather debris preventing you from using them. It’s frustrating.

Swarfega, to asklemmy in What password manager do you recommend?

If you’re going through all your site’s changing passwords maybe take a look at simplelogin.io to also hide your email address. Some sites block you, which is ridiculous, but for the majority of sites it’s a good idea.

Swarfega, to asklemmy in What password manager do you recommend?

This is what I used to do. Although KeePass is better these days in that it will recognise when a database has changed and ask you if you want to synchronise the changes. KeePassXC will even reload the database when it detects changes.

Swarfega, to asklemmy in What password manager do you recommend?

You sound like me. I used KeePass for many years. AutoType rules. That said it wasn’t as slick as other password managers for browser credentials. I moved my home stuff to Bitwarden and use KeePass for work. I honestly could never give up AutoType for work. Typing credentials into other applications is so handy and one majority of other password managers lack, including Bitwarden.

I started this way today but kept coming up with an error with rsync during install. I tried in Virtual Box and had the same error. I gave up and just installed Fedora in the end.

I read on the Jellyfin site that the Pi5 has no hardware encoders…

Since I’m only streaming locally (on a Pi4) I don’t need to record anything but still.

Swarfega, to lemmyshitpost in That escalated quickly 😬

Duolingo is one hell of a spammy application. I uninstalled it just because it was so noisy.

Swarfega, to memes in For real tho

You can also enable the easy list for cookies in uBlock Origin. It misses some but for the most part it works.

Swarfega, to asklemmy in How many tabs do you have open?

Not that I know of

The greater good

Swarfega, to memes in At least uBlock Origin is always up-to-date now

I know this is because Google indexes your mail but search is far superior on Gmail to Proton. I’ve downloaded the indexes from Proton on my home PC but search is still not good for searching email content.

Swarfega, to mildlyinteresting in The Remains of Scola Tower, a 17th Century Defence Fortress Located in the Gulf of La Spezia, Italy

Looks like something out of Uncharted 4.
