Had to walk to school, uphill both ways in -40C everyday, all year. Things were better back then.

There was an interesting CBC podcast called Fridge Light, and in one episode the host followed people who had their recipes accepted for commercial sale. Apparently, a big issue is making those recipes generic enough so that they are acceptable to the widest range of consumers. This often means toning down the flavors. So for example, a spicy recipe gets dialed back to the point that even people who find yogurt offensively spicy can eat it. Basically, they bland everything down. There’s other factors as well, like the taste from the can, etc.

Should I wait for the "Snyder cut" (director's cut) of Rebel Moon?

Hearing the movie is getting bad reviews. But Snyder says the director’s cut will be a completely different movie with a different vision. I admit Zack Snyder’s Justice League (director’s cut) was much better than the theatrical version and quite different (though I had mostly forgotten the original by then). Not sure if I...

The current version is not a good movie at all. It’s a Stat Wars knockoff with a boring story and the visual effects that aren’t that great.

I’ve read that Snyder claims the directors cut is completely different, it’ll be R-rated, extra violent, etc etc. I really don’t see how making it R-rated is going to fix the problems it has. I’m not much of a fan of Snyder though, so I guess you should take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats parrots, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming: “Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?”

Fear and Loathing in the Pet Store.

Lost my grandmother a few days prior, got bumped out of my shitty job to a lower paying even shittier job, and have to pass on a good job opportunity bc it would mean a big move and my partner refuses to move with me. And shes going traveling for 1.5 months on vacation right away without me. We have a house together and have been together for almost 14 yrs.

She has a ton of overtime hours from her job. She hasn’t had to use her banked vacation time in years. I only get 3 weeks and if I accumulate more they start trying to force you to use it. My family/friends live across the country and I just went to see them recently, so I don’t have the vacation time to travel. It’s not malicious on her part, she just loves to travel and I just can’t go this trip. More jealous that I’m stuck not going, but I don’t mind the alone time.

My dad spent, I believe, 3-4 years where every single meal he would gagging on the food and end up throwing up. Initially, they thought it was from the severe and chronic throat infection he had and because of our health care system it took them that many years to get his tonsils removed and at least rectify the infection issue. That didn’t solve the problem though, and eventually it turned out there was damage to a nerve in his throat that was causing it and he needed another surgery to fix that.

Watched him go through hell all those years, so I definitely feel for you and hope you get this resolved!

I attended both a Halloween and Christmas party where the hosts had invited someone selling sex toys. Much hilarity and shenanigans ensued. They were both great parties.

There is only but so much time that can be allocated to fun, sleep only serves to rob you of that precious time.

“Friendly and fun” = we force you to celebrate everyone’s birthdays, engagements, baby haverings, etc and so forth with cake and mandatory card signage and possibly gift/money givery.

“Learning and development” = you’ll be forced to participate in mind numbingly stupid seminars, self directed online courses, and/or online presentations.

“With opportunity to grow” = grow mold as you fester in the wretched job.

I had a VHS copy of the Empire Strikes Back that my uncle recorded for me when it played on one of our 3 local TV stations. For the holidays I had a recording of a bunch of the old holiday cartoons that would play in a marathon every Christmas, and one of Ghostbusters (for some reason it used to play every Christmas in the evening, so it became a Christmas movie for me).

Aside from that I’d mostly just rent the same VHS tapes from our local hole in the wall video rental place every weekend (Neverending Story and Inhumanoids) from the ages of 4-6. Then I think we got a real video store and my movie watching experience improved a bit. To be fair, the hole in the wall rental shop was probably only about 10 feet long and 6 feet wide inside, and the shelves of movies lined the walls, so there wasn’t a lot to choose from.

Lol. It’s literally what I gave the AI. My intentions were certainly not pure, but it was very very sensitive about what I typed in.
