if nothing else qwant has a good map, based on openstreetmap but with a vector renderer and with tripadvisor integration so it’s really easy to find restaurants
i think my hero academia sorta does this? i know the protag at least has to concentrate and think in a certain way to manage to pull fancy moves off before he internalizes the activation and can really do it at will, and i think other characters have similar challenges?
“so clench your buttcheeks kid, and yell this from the depth of your heart: SMASH!”
my favourite take on this is to have characters fighting in groups, then it becomes obviously necessary to call out moves so others know what’s going to happen and can know to not stand on the other side of the enemy that’s about to be showered in flame.
it also makes a nice contrast between solo fighters and those who simply don’t care about collateral damage: some villains can be pure chaos, you can have rogue heroes who just end up hurting innocent people because they don’t coordinate, and villains who do coordinate will look way more threatening because they aren’t hurting themselves.
i’m rather convinced that stuff like ADHD and autism was at least co-opted by evolution (if not outright created by it) because tribes with a certain percentage of it had an advantage.
For example ADHD seems great for foraging, that provides the stimulation that is desired and the ability to completely lose track of time is pretty nice to stave away boredom from trudging through the forest for hours on end;
and autism is pretty obvious in how a defining feature is having special interests that you LOVE doing and get extremely competent in.
I myself have autism and i have no doubt that in a hunter-gatherer tribe i would have been having a blast creating tools and stuff like wicker baskets and trying to improve them as much as i can.
bunch of sad people in here it seems like, to me it’s as simple as needing to actually make things feel christmas-y, you can’t just sit around doing the same exact stuff you always do and expect an atmosphere to magically materialize from nothing.
decorate things to high hell, play christmas music, eat christmas-y food, go to christmas markets, spend time just chilling with people.
i don’t agree that christmas is consumerist, you can just… not make it consumerist? like it’s not rocket science.
