Takumidesh, to memes in YouTube

Lemmy has 50 thousand users and hosts mostly text and static images. YouTube has 2.7 billion users and hosts mostly high quality video. Pretending it’s even remotely the same is pointless.

Takumidesh, to lemmyshitpost in I'm 99% sure it's not real

Why stop there? No PE no engineer.

You can arbitrarily gatekeep the title all you want, but the reality is that engineering is a group of concepts and ideologies that can be applied to many disciplines in many ways.

Just because the person doing the engineering doesn’t meet your personal standards doesn’t mean engineering isn’t being accomplished.

There is nothing about the engineering process that requires a degree.

All that being said. A professional engineer is an actual controlled title. (You can’t sign documents as a PE without getting the license, just like an attorney (JD) or doctor (MD)) but far and away most engineers, do not have this title, because most engineering jobs and tasks don’t require it.

Finally, (in most states) you can work with no degree under a PE for four years, pass the FE and PE, get your title and build a bridge. So as far as the most stringent title goes, it still doesn’t actually require a degree.

This video does a great job explaining how it works.

It has to do with system calls for stopping the disc that multi disc games would use.

Edit: I’m a dummy and didn’t realize this video was posted in the op.

Congrats, you came to the same conclusion as the text in the image.

Yes that doesn’t mean that opensubtitles can’t take their new found savings and use it to weed out poor quality submissions.

Wikipedia editors do it for free and yet they still maintain a high standard of quality.

They often do not include many languages, sure if you want English subtitles it’s likely they will be there. But good luck getting subtitles for movies and shows that didn’t have an official in the given country.

Do they include subtitles for every language?

So frustrating when a subtitle ad pops up spoiling that a movie is ending.

Something dramatic happening on screen and then “you can advertise on opensubtitles” appears on the bottom letting you know that there is 10 seconds left and spoiling any tension or drama in the scene.

I can download ten subtitles just trying to find one good one for a single TV show episode

Imo if they want to be so strict with downloading subtitles, they should raise the quality standards for the subtitles that are submitted.

I was playing all night last night on low (second from bottom) at 1440p and getting constant 60fps with occasional frame hiccups if I zoomed quickly or scrolled way across the map quickly.

I have a 2080 non super.

So there must be something else going on.

On the very lowest settings I was getting around 80-90 fps.

Takumidesh, to asklemmy in What are some modern bullshit jobs?

I think ‘producing something tangible’ is hardly a fair metric.

A therapist doesn’t produce something tangible, but many of them provide value to their clients.

A guitar teacher (or any teacher for that matter) doesn’t produce something tangible either, but they again provide value.

It’s likely lower volume too, so the cost in switching brings a higher opportunity/downtime cost on smaller runs.
