Does it even matter anymore?

abff08f4813c,

In my view this means the protests worked. reddit was forced to delay and stagger the API changes rollout over the "coming weeks" (so they don't say exactly how many weeks, but if it's more than four then the rollout as a whole may even be delayed by over a month). Presumably the worst of it won't take effect until after they feel like the protests have lost steam and folks have lost interest in it.

abff08f4813c,

Brilliant work by that team! Either reddit has to violate its own rules (which sadly they can, by deleting all NSFW content and removing the flag), or let the mods go.

And if they let the mods go, other giant subs can do the same thing in order to safely go NSFW.

xpinchx,

Oh no, anyway what’s your guy’s favorite cereal? Mine cinnamon toast crunch.

Well, had my content curated on Reddit and despised the recommendation stuff on the official app (that I never used lul). But now that I'm on a new platform, I want to have recommendations lol. The Random stuff on the sidebar's pretty neat, could've sworn Reddit has similar like 10 years ago.

The thing is that it really is no longer about 3rd party apps working or not, rather, the level of disrespect displayed from Reddit towards us, their userbase. That's why I'm not going back.

BlondieBuff,

Funny how r/blind saw this coming from a mile away

As a victim of domestic violence who has spent years online trying to help other victims, Reddit's act of undeleting several of my deleted comments just made me have to go through and manually delete. In the process, I had to relive a huge chunk of trauma.

I'm not feeling okay right now.

Relay for Reddit is continuing as a subscription service (feddit.uk)

Not sure how I feel about this tbh, fair play if that’s what he wants to do. I don’t think it will make me stay with reddit. The community feel of lemmy and kbin is making me finally enjoy contributing again. Towards the end with reddit it felt so… Pointless.

PSA: while upvoting exists, to get the "move closer to the top" effect that reddit's upvote had, you need to click boost

lwuy9v5,

In case any folks who are on a lemmy instance instead of kbin see this post (Hello new users!), boost is a kbin feature, which is a different type of “software” than lemmy. The main kbin instance is kbin.social , which can interact with both Lemmy and Mastodon instances

tl;dr - kbin is different than lemmy. They all talk to each other though. Boost is kbin only

Apollo has finally gone to the App Store in the sky. End of an era.

cybersandwich,

I play this game where I try to understand the ich_iel memes. I usually get close. Some of them are hilarious.

Inspiring? Elon Musk's cost cutting strategy was he just decided not to pay people, not to pay his landlord, not to pay his janitors, not to pay his hosting companies, not to pay many Twitter employees, and not to bother following laws, because, presumably, "fuck you, I'm a billionaire." If that's inspiring to spez, I'm feeling really good about leaving his platform. Aaron Swartz must be spinning in his grave so fast we could generate power from it.
