xpinchx,

It’s like a year’s worth of pent up desire for more free time, then we get it and have no clue what to do so we default to scrolling, YouTube, and enough weed to stay at least mildly stoned for a week. Then back to work like nothing happened, except nobody has been doing your work so you get to deal with whatever work picked up during that time.

xpinchx,

I have a friend that does IT/networking for a school district and he makes bank, YMMV.

xpinchx,

There’s the next one on the chopping block. It’s kind of great and freeing cancelling all these subscriptions. Just one $5 payment per month to newsgroup ninja and i got everything. I’ve been holding on to prime and Netflix for convenience but honestly fuck them.

xpinchx,

Let’s talk about Palestine at Christmas dinner 👍

Motorcycles have something called pinlock maybe something like that exists for corrective goggles?

With my pinlock on I can drive in freezing weather and not fog up.

xpinchx,

I hate how most of my job is being a professional emailer.

xpinchx,

To be fair tho I live in Chicago and there’s 2 of these places by me. But there’s another 2 that I can get a loaded combo with fries and a drink for about $10 USD and it’s always fresh and delicious.

xpinchx,

No link but American wild burger, the one in the city shut down apparently but there’s still one in the suburbs. Add bacon cheese and BBQ sauce and you’re at a little over $20 for a burger with no fries.

If you go to Google maps and just type burgers and filter price $20+ or $30+ there are plenty burger bars that will match that criteria.

xpinchx,

This, same with “I had a tough day” and “my day was worse” type comments. Just let me vent then I’ll listen about your day.

xpinchx,

My fiance is a store manager for a big box and it was closed for Thanksgiving. A passerby pries the door open and broke it, setting off the alarm and alerting the security company. I had to drive her out there and she spent Thanksgiving waiting for a door vendor to show up to repair it and sign off 🥲

That’s my story on how some entitled asshole ruined a family holiday for us.

xpinchx,

Yeah… I feel like I contributed so much more before but managing people, but this is where the money is sadly. I went from supply chain/purchasing/logistics manager to operations manager. I used to be a one man team and single handedly saved maybe $200k this year so far, and took our aged inventory from about $1M to basically nothing, all of our KPIs are primo. This is a company that pulls $10M/yr in revenue… small company.

I got rewarded with spending half my time babysitting the warehouse team, getting reamed by my boss when they’re not getting through things fast enough, and fixing their mistakes and bandaiding bad processes. But I got a 30% raise so I guess it’s worth it? I could be doing so much more.

xpinchx,

This is basically me with any kind of elaborate masturbation rituals. Ya it feels cool and different but the end result is the same if I just crank down :D

xpinchx,

For enterprise environments really nothing compares to MS. The whole suite of power apps shoots productivity through the roof. Power query, power automate, power apps, BI, etc. With Python integration I can do even more, I can automate most things and set up automations for non savvy peers.

By enterprise I just mean any business that deals with a lot of data, I work for a company with 15 people and we’d need probably 5 more if we were running on Google. 😂😂

xpinchx,

Yeah most of our ERP dumps data into an Azure database, but we frequently pull queries for ad hoc reporting/analysis into Excel as well as maintained BI reports.

The real issue is a lot of our SaaS isn’t fully integrated like that so we have to csv dump data that loads into other queries and we pull from that 🙃 But those csv dumps are set with automations so it’s mostly hands-off, just a little janky lol.

xpinchx,

Not to be confused with EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

xpinchx,

Insane, I have mid credit and got 3% in 2017

xpinchx, (edited )

Lol this applies to so many things. Maybe there’s some prestige to doing something for the first time, but really there were probably a dozen people that contemplated it and decided against it for good reasons.

xpinchx,

I did do this for web dev for a government contract. I got brought on for mobile optimizations but ended up doing full UI/UX design and marketing copy with no experience. All through their shitty in house WYSIWYG. $60/hr for a full year lol.

xpinchx,

Yeah I saw this as a kid on TV. I think I was gone alone and it really freaked me out but I couldn’t turn it off.
