WarmApplePieShrek,

Even if there was a “dark” web, you’d have to know which onions to tie on your belt to find the information you’re looking for.

XOrg Server and Xwayland Patched Against Multiple Security Vulnerabilities - 9to5Linux (9to5linux.com)

Even if your distro is using Wayland by default, the Xwayland implementation is probably still used for compatibility with X11 apps, so you still need to patch your systems and make sure that the latest version is installed.

WarmApplePieShrek,

Distros already force switch, it doesn’t work as well.

Me vs my ISP

So I was looking into getting port forwarding set up and I realized just how closed-off the internet has gotten since the early days. It’s concerning. It used to be you would buy your own router and connect it to the internet, and that router would control port-forwarding and what-have-you....

WarmApplePieShrek,

Asking is free

WarmApplePieShrek,

You can rent a server in a data center. Hetzner is pretty good… unless it thinks you’re a “risky customer” and bans you.

WarmApplePieShrek,

Tunnelling isn’t a DNS provider

I made sure they’re unconnected by IP address, cookies, email, etc.

You underestimated the average person’s tolerance to be dominated. They’ll stay on Reddit and Twitter and Facebook.

WarmApplePieShrek,

Private trackers aren’t dominated by people who waste my bandwidth downloading all day at maximum speed and never contributing back.

WarmApplePieShrek, (edited )

Scene has standards. You don’t have to be scene to use scene naming standards. scenerules.org

WarmApplePieShrek,

The filter you’re using to avoid multiple encoding attacks creates multiple encoding attacks.

WarmApplePieShrek,

Just name them in scene format even if you’re not scene.

WarmApplePieShrek,

This method is a band-aid patch when your downstream code is all messed up and you can’t fix it. Instead of treating the input string correctly, it just removes anything that might possibly trigger some vulnerability in wrong code.

WarmApplePieShrek,

Don’t know, but torrentleech doesn’t require port forwarding for HNR.

WarmApplePieShrek,

You’re on private trackers and you don’t understand port forwarding?

WarmApplePieShrek,

If only there was a protocol they could use to allow customers to share files with each other, using their own bandwidth.

WarmApplePieShrek,

Hollywood CEOs are trying to live off the value added to society of artists’ creative works.

WarmApplePieShrek,

This is a good way to hide, actually. Port forwarding connections are easier to trace long-term. If you make the downloader port forward instead of the uploader, the one who’s easily traced is the one who’s in less trouble and the real targets stay hidden. But leechers are lazy and won’t do that. Some Scene FTPs do this.

WarmApplePieShrek,

I’d prefer not to advertise to peers the IP I’m hosting those on.

Yeah don’t be like this guy: 88.198.43.12/rutorrent4/(Disk is full. Poor bugger.)

WarmApplePieShrek,

I2P is separate from normal internet. It’s not an alternative to VPN.

WarmApplePieShrek,

You can mod any open source client to cheat but most of them don’t give you buttons to do it.

WarmApplePieShrek,

Great for privacy. So great, that half the internet won’t let you browse, because they can’t sell you data for money.

WarmApplePieShrek,

Not always needed with private trackers.

WarmApplePieShrek,

I2P doesn’t really have exit nodes. You can only browse within the I2P network.
