Yet another new one I’ve not heard about. I’m in the Linux gang barely as I mostly run Mint these days. So I’m Windozes adjacent but in Linux it seems…

And German posts in German. Not even sure why they come in my feed as I’ve not subscribed to Linux Memes in Deutsch

Perhaps it could be like copyrights and patents? If you don’t defend them, you lose them, and in some cases they expire after a set amount of time and then they can be used by others

It’s amazing even for the cheaper CnC machines in other industries running on Dos or Win95, 98, XP. I use to have to maintain the hardware of these older PCs as the initial outlay to replace the machines was fairly high compared to stress and much lower cost of finding old hardware.

In the end with the modem equivalent CnC machines on the lower end we would only see minimal upgrades to the functions of the machines, versus the updates to the software. Let’s me honest that would become obsolete yet again within a few years.

It’s the circle of life?

I was a K-9 user for a time there. I sprung for the Nine client’s 1 time buy for my work email so I could control with a schedule notifications and mail retrieval.

I now use it for my Gmail client so I can add inline photos to my messages on Android.

I’ve not really watched much of Bob’s Burgers but I think I saw a fan made cross over sometime back and it was weird for sure.

A lot of great shows mentioned. To add to the list of upbeat the gf and I are working our way through Modern Family. The early seasons are pretty upbeat and lighthearted. I do wonder where they will end up in the later seasons as the families age.

Working Moms is something the gf watches and what I’ve seen had been pretty great and has some good fun shock value. I’m surprised where they go with some of the humour. Usually only animated shows get away with this.

I would add Archer but I haven’t finished the last couple of seasons so I’m not sure where it ends up on the fun and outrageous scale.

Loved this show. Wish there was more.

I’m quite enjoying it too but I think it borders on horror with the themes of where the modern world will end up.

Mr Bean is pretty universal no matter the audience. I quite enjoyed Blackadder but I also enjoy history and have grown up on exported British television so I could keep up with the it. Not sure as many could like Mr Bean. Still is amazing the cast and what they did after Blackadder.

I’ve not made it through the first season. It is so cringe to me at this point. It does get better then?

As a Canadian I now have 2 Electric kettles. Replaced my traditional electric kettle with a Gooseneck kettle for my pour over coffee. Still works great for tea. Also have a stove top gooseneck kettle for the camper when camping.

I was mostly a lurker on reddit for many years. Before that was a forum board user, moderator, and even setup a few for sports leagues. Despite being sports centric there was usually off topic sections for politics and other off subject debates. Often these sections became more popular than the sport.

Then it would became drama filled and once a year there would be complaining about all the new summer users once kids were out of school. They would flood the forums with newbie stuff and people would leave the forum and find a new home. Seems like this pattern repeats to the newer socials too.

With FB etc the forum boards seem to lose a lot of that daily traffic over time. FB and other Socials delivered that quick dopamine hit and it didn’t even need to be in the niche the forums were. For those that wanted the niches, FB groups came on the scene.

For me with Reddit it came on one of my early Android phones which was great for reading with. I didn’t comment much as the threads were usually fairly deep with comments and sort of done by that stage. It didn’t have that small town feel like the old forums so I wasn’t as inclined to add much. Still there was plenty to read, perhaps too much as books began to be replaced by socials too. Since I was only a mobile user, the API changes were a great reason to get off reddit and read books again. Still working on that.

I’m finding myself commenting more on Lemmy but like the life cycle of the forums and reddit, it’s only a matter of time when the users reach the tipping point and the feel of the place will change.

So I’m trying to enjoy things as they last these days. Hopefully get some books in there now too…
