Cops Used DNA to Predict a Suspect’s Face—and Tried to Run Facial Recognition on It (www.wired.com)

For facial recognition experts and privacy advocates, the East Bay detective’s request, while dystopian, was also entirely predictable. It emphasizes the ways that, without oversight, law enforcement is able to mix and match technologies in unintended ways, using untested algorithms to single out suspects based on unknowable...

The most similar, not to say identical to floorp, is Midori. Other which try to recreate old Opera is Otter (Qt5, not Gecko), also nice, private, FOSS and blazing fast.

What I said, anyway try also Otter, even if it isn’t a Gecko browser (AFAIK it also admits in last versions the import of Chrome extensions (Qt5 is a fork of Blink), also userscripts without the need of Tamper, Greay or Violentmonkey). It will be also the fastest browser you ever have tested.

No, only some parts are not updated some years, but the last core update is from 10 hours ago, others from a month. It’s a very small community and logical that the developement isn’t so active as in the big ones. The last updates also includes the possibility to use extensions, before not prossible. But yes, it’s always better to use browsers in active developement and community. Which isn’t the case in indie and marginal browsers and forks, mostly 1-2 devs projects.

Apple always had been painfull for any third party devs. Also Vivaldi worked several years to create a browser which works in this iPhone thing, and now, after it’s release, Apple admits Chromium. https://file.coffee/u/BPIaDNFX7YJkKtXuMdWNJ.gif

If you are not so fit in this questions is better to install Portmaster, its downloading and run it, not much more to do (blocking or give permissions to connecting to the network to your apps. Maybe sellecting an DNS which fits your needs in the settings. It’s way easier to handle than Pi Hole. It even has an SPN (its like a VPN on steroids), but its an paid option.

There are several webs of ornamental allium which show how to plant and care for them, the different species, etc.

Zerush,

They grow mostly spherical, but depending of the species of ornamental allium. Also a normal onion has a beautifull flower if you plant it.

All beings, including us, are descendants of the first single-celled being that appeared on Earth billions of years ago. We share 75% of our DNA with a potato (some people which I know, even more)

Tracking? I think that the Fediverse isn’t Facebook, no tracking conecting or linking from one to another, tracking from the Onion, but not from Mastodon. Look for yourself who is tracking you themarkup.org/blacklight (nice in your Bookmarks)

That isn’t avoidable if you don’t use an VPN. ProtonVPN (OpenSource) is fine, even the free one (no logs, encrypted military level, no data limits in the free version, made by cientifics of the CERN)

Alright boys, I've been converted to the light side and have installed F-Droid. Now what?

Basically title. I waited on installing F droid for a long time because my phone threw many scary warnings when I tried a long time ago. But now I have it, and I got some fossify apps, but since there is no “Editor’s Picks” on F- droid I dont really know where to go from here....

Most privacy tools from the PlayStore are light versions “decaffeinated” by Google. Google hate all apps which avoid his control. Recommended app for Android is InviZible Pro (FOSS)

The best, at least better than selling userdata. Proto use it since a long time ago, all its products are OpenSource, frr versions paid by the Premium accounts with more features, apart of the basics, mre gigas in the mail and clous and more servers for the VPN. With this they can offer an decent free service without ads.
