agitatedpotato,

Should he? Probably not. Would he do a better job in office than the idealogicaly brain dead choices being ‘weekend at bernies’ed’ by the highest paying lobbyists we’ve had since Citizens United? Absolutely.

I just ask that people realize what I realize, which is it’s an issue with ME that I’m not secure enough to be with a person who I can see having sex with someone else. I cannot control my feelings but I am responsible for them, or at the very least, other people are not responsible for them(at least in this example anyway it’s not as if the of model was having sex with other people AT me.)

agitatedpotato,

Its all true because to them the left is anyone that they dont like or agree with.

agitatedpotato,

Not supporting a game is not a reason to switch to linux, and the more games aren’t supported, the less people are gonna switch. The Linux zeal on this site is comical.

“Haha my OS cant play games that have millions of concurrent daily users each!”

How the year of the Linux gaming PC coming?

agitatedpotato, (edited )

That’s a great argument for the extremely small percentage of gamers who give a damn about that, but just about all of them are already on linux, so if that’s the way forward for linux gaming, congrats it’s at full saturation. This site is wild. Downvotes for pointing out thay not running games thay millions play a day is bad for gaming on the OS. I may as well be talking to Republicans about Biden. You’re zealots.

Go on the legaue and valorant forums see how many of the millions you can convince that Linux security is more important than being able to play with their friends.

agitatedpotato,

A lot of the sports sub mods I frequent put up a hard fight and many just walked away. The change in those communities has been noticable. Especially since they can no longer use API to import clips as they happen, engagement and content is way down. There used to be highlights for days, just automatically.

agitatedpotato,

How a computer scientist thinks words should be pronounced is not as convincing an argument as so many here seem to think.

agitatedpotato,

In Canada it’s legal to cross check anyone who calls a thermos a stanley cup.

agitatedpotato,

Theres a cool autobio book by Don Cox called “Just Another removed” that details some of this. Obviously the Feds played a part but Don himself cautions not to give them too much credit. There’s plenty we can learn from what transpired aside from that. Leadership was an issue, and sexism was a really big issue are two big takeaways. A lot of the other stuff requires a bit more nuance to explain and would be best learned by the book itself. Interesting and not too long a read.

Being fair, capitalism works great in games. The system necessarily determines a winner, there are no externalities inside of a video game, and the people whose labor you’re profiting from are NPCs.

Honestly - How much will you sacrifice for a better world?

Confronted with the likelihood that we cannot achieve climate goals, confront socioeconomic inequality, and ultimately build a better world without significant personal sacrifice: How much are you personally capable and willing to lose? I mean this in the most earnest way possible. Acknowledging the likely possibility of working...

agitatedpotato, (edited )

Less and less as time goes on. Spent far too much of my youth sacrificing hoping a difference would be made only for it to leave me in a materially much worse situation. I should have just stayed in the major that would have gotten me a high paying job making weapons for the military and harming the environment rather than going into a science more designed to help people. If I were going to judge by personal outcomes and no other measure, that was the worst mistake of my life. I wish I could have been happy being part of the problem, because being part of the solution hasn’t helped myself or even materially advanced the solution.

Im glad working on a viable plan and panicking are mutally exclusive for you, but they’re not for me. This is why my therapist started suggesting I simply stop paying attention to everything outside of my immediate daily view. My brain also failed to make itself happy through that kind of ignorance. Not to mention I couldn’t simply make that information unexists from my day to day social interactions. I was encountering at work what my therapist told me to avoid and since it was word of mouth it was less reliable than if I had just read it myself.

Actual doctors have tried, years have been spent and by the time I stopepd going id been going on about a year of weekly visits where I was no longer being taught anything new, simply checking in and making sure I was doing all the things I already learned. Copays were eating away at my actionable steps to fix the other problems in my life and I was no longer learning anything new or noticing positive behavioral change.

agitatedpotato,

Therapy doesn’t fix any of the most pressing issues I have. I’d wager about 85% or more of my stress is economic or environmental in nature. My big three worries are how am I gonna afford a house by myself, how am i going to be able to retire on little money and without kids, and is the envrioment going to lose the ability to sustain human life while I’m still alive and on nothing more than a fixed income.

I don’t need to journal my thoughts and pretend the outside world doesn’t exist, I need some damn material security in my life.

agitatedpotato,

Being content despite not having needs met feels like a skill thats more valuable to my boss than me. Nah im gonna get my needs met.

agitatedpotato,

True. It’s also a good formula for PTSD. When your traumas have to take a back seat to material needs, disorders develop.

agitatedpotato,

Nintedo lawyers are second only to Disney Lawyers. Fuck nintendo.

agitatedpotato,

When your step-healer gets stuck you gotta do what you gotta do.

agitatedpotato,

If I have clear sinuses but I obstruct one of my nostrils, I breathe out of the other one and under no duress I feel calm and display no need to unobstruct the other nostril.

If one of sinuses and nasal passages is fully stuffed such that no air can go through, catch me flipping on my sides an laying upside down so I can open up a small sweet path for fresh air.

Cant be only me right?

agitatedpotato,

Sometimes it’s where the compliments come from. I get no shortage of compliments about my work, but those barely move the needle emotionally, I’ve always been a lot of labor for a lot of people, being recognized in that light isn’t exactly flattering. In fact it’s the only light I feel I get any recognition in.

agitatedpotato,

Most sexual tension between on screen siblings outside of ‘life with Derek’

agitatedpotato,

Meanwhile people still saying they’d rather be intubated than having taken a vaccine

I only wish they get what they ask for.

agitatedpotato,

Not it’s not, how dare you disagree with me

agitatedpotato, (edited )

These situations taught me there’s no reason in holding back, you’re going to get in trouble for doing the right thing. May as well really earn that punishment. I can’t even imagine trying to deal with your bully in the age where everyone has a pocket video recorder. Make a statement I say.

agitatedpotato, (edited )

Its a highly parroted false dichotomy. If not voting for Biden is akin to supporting Trump then not voting Trump is akin to supporting Biden.

What I do know is your vote is power. No politician can be elected without being given it. If you’re giving that power to the lesser of two genociders you’re endorsing a genocider. You handed material power to someone supporting genocide, that necessarily makes you at least a little complicit.

Choosing the lesser genocide is still chosing genocide, and that’s not what never again is supposed to mean. How is it hard to understand some people do not feel comfortable choosing any amount of genocide when your choice directly empowers a genocide.

Saying we have to vote for one evil is like saying a conscientious objector in war has to fight for the other side or they’re not doing anything to solve the problem. No the point is we disagree with all of it. Conscientious objectors don’t end wars, are they a wasted strategy too?
