averyminya, (edited ) to linux in Steam Linux Marketshare Surges To Nearly 2% In November

TBH I’ve yet to come across any game I haven’t been able to play (aside from the obvious VR/occasional anti-cheat), most unsupported games just haven’t been tested for most cases

Edit: out of curiosity I actually went through my library to see just how many unsupported games I could download and try (again, not the VR ones lol).

I ended up getting caught up playing Revita all day and it says unsupported but it definitely works! For anyone else interested in that game, it is having some development quirks but there’s a public beta branch of it that seems to be the “definitive” version of the game.

Uploaded a control scheme template for the beta since there wasn’t one I liked :D

Then I tried an old DOS game Litil Divil which also worked just fine. I’d have tried some others but like I said, addicting game be addicting

averyminya, to piracy in What site should I trust?

Regarding your last point, I agree, however it is not as important and it does take up resources that could otherwise be used for the people who need it (journalists utilizing tor, victims trying to get away from abusers etc).

Especially given that there are still alternatives to piracy without tor, whereas there are far fewer alternatives for these people.

That said, you’re still right, it’s minimal. Overall though, options for piracy without tor are accessible and should still be used when possible. From my understanding, few circumstances arise where pirating over tor is a better method for you and for others

Basically, use tor for legitimate content to help make tor safer for others using it.

I’m guessing it grabs from private tracker

averyminya, to memes in This is literally the internet nowadays without an adblock

Then google should have done a better job vetting the ads so they don’t have malicious redirects or malware so that users wouldn’t feel the need to run adblocks to be safe.

In fact, Google as the most pervasive advertiser should probably have done that for all ads. I imagine if they weren’t so terrible, ad-blocks wouldn’t be so prevalent.

All that is removed with the pro version, but I understand the hesitation.

averyminya, to linux in Is linux good for someone tech illererate.

I agree, but this was instantly. Like sub-10 minutes. . .

averyminya, to gaming in I remember getting a PS3 just to avoid this back then

I played online on the Wii quite a lot, it was fine. Smash bros a ton, 007 Golden Eye and The Conduit, and good old MH Tri.

Literally a thousand hours in that last one alone most of which was spend online. Did you not use Ethernet? Wi-Fi was shitty for sure, because everybody had shitty wi-fi back then. (I’m also not saying it was amazing, but it was free and serviceable)
