I prefer right side on Windows (which I don’t use), on Linux I prefer just having a small status bar at the top.

I comment sometimes, that’s why I don’t use frontends

Wanted to find out since when a System Sound kcm exists, found out that LibreOffice is in some way connected to freedesktop.

Yes, I didn’t think about it a lot before doing it, that’s why it was dumb

It’s kinda surprising how much you can do in just a tty, the only thing I can’t think of a method for rn is viewing/editing documents.

My PC is hacked

I just received a call from an indian microsoft technician. He informed me that my PC is sending a ton of error messages to microsoft. Most likely it has been hacked, and he would help me by remoting in and fixing the problem for me. I just wonder… Is it my PopOs or my Manjaro PC that sends all this info to microsoft?

You could’ve told him your local IP (192.168.(1…255).(1…255)), is completely useless outside your home network but looks real enough.

I made it to Linux! What is your must-have FOSS or Free Software for linux?

Thank you so much, comrades! I am feeling pretty comfortable with linux mint, and now would like some suggestions for some absolutely necessary FOSS or free license software for the OS. So far I have the standard, Firefox, ThunderBird, LibreOffice, yada yada. Thank you again to everyone on the linux comm! sankara-salute

“I use Linux as my operating system,” I state proudly to the unkempt, bearded man. He swivels around in his desk chair with a devilish gleam in his eyes, ready to mansplain with extreme precision. “Actually”, he says with a grin, "Linux is just the kernel. You use GNU+Linux!’ I don’t miss a beat and reply with a smirk, "I use Alpine, a distro that doesn’t include the GNU coreutils, or any other GNU code. It’s Linux, but it’s not GNU+Linux.

The smile quickly drops from the man’s face. His body begins convulsing and he foams at the mouth and drops to the floor with a sickly thud. As he writhes around he screams “I-IT WAS COMPILED WITH GCC! THAT MEANS IT’S STILL GNU!” Coolly, I reply “If windows was compiled With gcc, would that make it GNU?” I interrupt his response with “-and work is being made on the kernel to make it more compiler-agnostic. Even you were correct, you wont be for long.”

With a sickly wheeze, the last of the man’s life is ejected from his body. He lies on the floor, cold and limp. I’ve womansplained him to death.

The “I have two sides” meme. On the left side is someone who looks like a Palestine* terrorist, with the bottom text “In real life”. The right side has the bottom text “Discord”, it’s the right side of the same image.

The video part is the sides fading in one by one.

^*specifically\ Palestine\ because\ there’s\ a\ Palestine\ flag\ on\ the\ left\ arm^

You’re pretty save without an Antivirus on Linux (we’re just 3%, not worth it for hackers), but if you need to check files, VirusTotal is your friend.

I’m not here to have the Fedora Telemetry discussion, but I think it’s not spying If the user has choice and control over what gets through if anything
