baseless_discourse, to lemmyshitpost in IT support work be like

my brain sees “I’ll be pissed and mock you” and read it to me as “I’ll piss on you”.

Not a bad punishment for people don’t plug their plugs all the way in.

baseless_discourse, to linuxmemes in Yeah, very sorry that this app is Windows only, would love to switch to Mac

From what I have gathered online, it seems like most people believe that macOS is (slightly) more private than Windows. macOSshow you detailed characterization of the telemetry, and you can turn most of it it off; whereas you cannot turn off basic telemetry in Windows.

I cannot verify this claim, since I never owned an apple product.

That being said, if I have to use a closed-source OS, I would probably choice window, since I am more familiar with it and it is (slightly) more open than macOS.

*probably way more than half

And there are five of us who can afford figs for everyone forever, but decided to use that money to lure underaged teens for orgy outside in some secluded islands.

Bro, wait until bunch of western kids, who never been to your country and do not speak your language, flood here to tell you how great you country is, and everything else is just “madeup western propaganda”.

Have been lectured several times about my own country, which I lived in for most of my life…

baseless_discourse, (edited ) to memes in Let 'em COOK!

Originally I thought it was talking about age. Then I realize there is an entire country that uses the wrong unit.

baseless_discourse, to lemmyshitpost in Northern star gang

PSA, never go into a dense forest thinking “I can’t get lost”.

baseless_discourse, (edited ) to memes in ummm not this time...

I am sorry, I am not tipping 2$ for people to turn around and get my coffee from a tap.

Tipping waiters will be my final compromise with tipping culture. I never order delivery from app because I refuse to be forced to tip the delivery person after being charged delivery fee and serivce fee. I also do not tip countertop worker.

baseless_discourse, to linuxmemes in This truly is the year of the linux desktop

The three linux users finally found a friend to masturbate with. Leading to a 33% increase in linux user visit.

baseless_discourse, to linux in What happens when Linus dies/retires?

But what happens when Bill Gates is dead?!

baseless_discourse, (edited ) to fuck_cars in Thank the gods we live in such a car-saturated nation, how horrible it would be if this space was used to house people

Most country, urbanist or not, do have wilderness, where you can live and die without people know.

You don’t need to live in the city if you dont want to. You can live off grid, and burn your own feces for heat if that is the life of your choosing. What people here are fighting for is to keep this living style is outside of cities.

Basically, city is not the place for giant emotional support vehicles. And outside traffic should not disrupt the normal form of transportation in cities, which should be dominated by public transport, walking, and efficient personal vehicles (like bike, scooters, wheelchairs, etc).

I think they will break laws (in countries with basic respect for human right) if they don’t have that option.

baseless_discourse, to asklemmy in What is some good things to do with a new pc/laptop/computer?

Except all the bloat included in windows.

baseless_discourse, to piracy in Netflix enshittification will continue until morale improves

Why can’t people live without Netflix? Don’t they have a job, a family, OR a hobby?

I am honestly confused…

baseless_discourse, (edited ) to linux in Reddit API blew up and now I run Linux?

I also started with LTS assuming they would be more usable, but the extremely outdated package have later driven me away from linux for a while.

Now I realize I can just run normal Ubuntu to get reasonably up-to-date packages. But I like the latest (non-graphical) software that is offered by fedora.

Subscription based service makes data harvesting much easier. Spotify can force you to connect to their server even if you downloaded your song, in the name of “verifying your subscription”.

Buy the songs, buy the movie, take them offline.

That being said there are good subscription based service, like home assistant cloud, where all your communications are always E2E encrypted and cannot be seen by their server. Their subscription model is justified, as they rent their servers.
