That doesn’t need a backup from my side. That’s the reason we use torrents and private trackers, right? We have a dedicated group that collectively collect files and share them among each other
toolbox is preinstalled on fedora silverblue/kinoite whereas distrobox isn’t. What’s the advantage of one vs the other? Why is toolbox preinstalled and not distrobox?...
There are some speculations about TPM uncontrollably sending data to manufacturer servers if a laptop has any Internet connection. Others say it’s not intended/capable of that, like this answer for example (which is 5 years old though)....
Codeberg is a public non-profit Forgejo instance hosted by the actual maintainers of the tool. They’re compromised with free software and provide their services with no pay walls other than a single limitaiton: only accepting open-source projects in their instance. That shouldn’t be a problem if you want to work on open-source, right?
I posted this as a comment in another post but when I got done I realized it would probably just be better as its own post. I’m sure I could find the answers I need myself but frankly I trust the userbase here more than most online articles....
You can just downlaod any linux iso, e.g. fedora fedoraproject.org/workstation/download , and install it in a virtual machine. This way you can play with linux.
You can also write it to an USB and boot from the USB, nothing grts written on any other storagr device and you can test if everything works, check for compatibility, play around and once you’re done, you shut down, remove the USB and your PC is like nothing has happened. Getting to know how to download an iso, write it to usb and boot from it is a common and easy task.
I’ve never heard of a common video format not playing on linux

It’s mostly libinput. Why the hell can’t I easily change scroll speed on Gnome and not on KDE? Even if Mint (Cinnamon) doesn’t look as good as GNOME, you can always install another desktop environment.
I’d recommend fedora silverblue. You’ll install all graphical packages via a Software store and you won’t brick your system. Even if, you may just recover an old state. I installed media codecs via the software store, not command line.
ofc you may schedule it with cron but following script I wrote won’t change anything. The setting is set but nothing changes. I’m on Fedora Silverblue...
