Maybe you shouldn’t take a job that pays $3/hour and then blame other people for why you get paid so little. My brother in Christ, you accepted the job.
Fuck tipping. American tipping culture enables employers to get away with paying their hospitality service industry employees starvation wages. By giving a big tip you are just telling the employer “Don’t worry about paying your employees a living wage. I got you fam.”
Obviously I still tip depending on where I am, but the minimum amount that is considered socially acceptable.
It does depend on interest rates to some extent. For the past decade, the prevailing wisdom of the software industry has been to pour money into unprofitable ventures with the hope of getting profitable later. In the past year, austerity measures like heightened interest rates have made it so VCs are more interested in money now instead of money later.
You could get one of the older models where they don’t connect to the internet and instead just bumble around bumping into stuff until the place is clean
Obsidian is my fav. It’s not FOSS but it uses a flat folder of plain markdown files so it’s very portable and open.
Notion is decent as well but smells like at some point it will enshittify. If you are okay with the pain of jumping platforms eventually you could give it a shot.
Joplin is FOSS and I’ve heard good things about it but idk where it stacks up against the other two.
