I get where you’re coming from. I’d just say that, not being abducted murder or robbed, is not the same as removing the peep shows. I’ll give you the change started earlier, but the actual conversion of tenants wasn’t until later.
I recently decided it’s unfair to judge them for how well they’re handling change, when they’ve gone through the most change in history. My parents grew up in the mud and died on the Internet.
No way! That place was a shit hole until after 9/11 when tourists started coming exponentially more, right ahead of the mass gentrification. In the 90s my mom would whoop my ass if she found out I was hanging out up there after school. Bloomberg capitalized on things and really Disneyfied midtown.
So I’ve literally played an ADHD-soothing shitty phone game on the couch while denying my son asking me to join him on Nintendo. One shuts my brain down to repair (and I usually end up picking up a controller after my mind is calm), while the other is active and engaging. Think about playing MP with your grown ass friends and getting frustrated. Imagine a kid.
(Yes… that’s not as chill as LEGO, but you’ve never seen my kid trying to follow LEGO instructions after a long day. Equally possible to not be chill)
