People keep talking about “Federalizing the National Guard” and now you’ve got other States pledging their NG to Texas in defiance of the Supreme Court (see image)....
That’s mostly fluff though. Like you show, the core is either Linux or bsd and gnu, and then you have a handful of families.
That’s not fragmentation, that’s freedom.
And compatibility is a big factor too. Because of gnu and posix basically, almost anything that works on one distro will work on another.
Imagine if each distro was completely locked from anything on another one. That would be fragmentation, and we wouldn’t be talking about it, because it would be shit.
I’ve been a sysadmin for years and I worked longer on Linux than I did on Windows.
Many of your points are management bullshit. The proof? In France the gendarmerie (country police) moved to Linux about a decade ago.
The thing with windows is usually that management want a whole solution out of the box, from a renowned editor, so basically Microsoft. The key point is that they want a contract with a company so they can discard the responsability of failures on someone out of their own company. The second feature is that they are boomers or anti-nerds, so they are never going to be seen using something on a computer that’s not mainstream.
The last problem is from Microsoft that worked hard these last years to remove any compatibility between office and other softwares of this kind. They also enshitified office365 very hard so that is doesn’t work well on Linux.
The question of the price is a fraud. Large companies need an it service for Windows on top of the licences and infrastructure. It’s way cheaper with Linux. The biggest work with an enterprise Linux is to make it compatible with the shitty Windows environment, and the compliance with the useless security thought for windows.
For me, there were several dollar store trinkets that already broke, and one toy for my kids that was a huge sparkly styrofoam mess waiting to happen, so I threw it out rather than curse anyone else with it.
The problem with dating apps is about the app themselves mostly. They promote shitty behaviours.
When you’re ghosted, it çan be from 3 reasons: you’re actually ghosted ; the person is no more on the app ; the person didn’t really looked at your profile, or it has too many matches.
It is very hard on self esteem and on your appreciation of the other sex.

The hunter-gatherer gender division is actually proven wrong now.
Also, hunting mammoths was a very rare activity. I would expect it to be some kind of desperate activity in fact. People weren’t more crazy than we are, they would rather live than to be trampled by a mammoth.
Scientists have to list all the sources they use. And they quickly get called out for doing mistakes in that regard and suffer a loss of trust in their work....
Politics is not science. A political decision does not rely on facts, it’s a moral decision or a jump into the unknown, or it is a arbitration, a choice to make on allocating resources or choosing a path for society.
Now there is a lot of lies and wrongs they’re saying, and it is a problem. But this is a problem with accountability and information. Media are a big problem. Political accountability and responsability is a big question and a difficult problem to solve. Science methods and knowledge can help, but they are not applicable for most of these problems.
Honestly, if such incompetent developers weren’t as arrogant as to argue how their bullshit is the right way to go, I would agree with you. But instead their bullshit philosophy is the expected way to work in many places, and it’s the cancer of computer development, so the anger is deserved IMO.
Pretty much the title. I’ve been watching more realistic super hero shows like The Boys and Invincible. The reoccurring themes is that with great power comes great immorality....
Another problem is about where to redirect the overcharge. In space there is no ground where the current can go. Yet you need to dissipate the energy somewhere.
I hate this philosophy so much! I hate developers for it! It’s like they gave up on even trying to do anything about retrocompatibility and managing libraries and dependancies.
Anyway it will collapse soon. I just wish it was sooner.
That’s called cooking. And we usually call it meat instead of dead animal, because it’s a specific part of the dead animal that’s tasty and nutritive once cooked.
I find it so funny that these plastic and credit score are a problem since like 50 years but somehow farming and civilization would be responsible for it. Like capitalism is the only outcome for civilization. It’s scary how people are conditioned with this.
So apparently there are two phases: first, a pop-up that tells you addblocker is forbidden. But if you go long enough without caring, the the message is out instead of the video.
It is based on the account. So if you open the video in another account, it works, and it also work in a private tab (I need to double check for this one).
I know this is a really vague question, but it’s been on my mind A LOT lately. I’m specifically asking about people fighting on behalf of a group that is subject to oppression of some kind. 3 years ago, with all of the protests in America that included violence majorly against property and minorly against people but were...
Violence can be justified, especially to prevent or answer violence.
But the target of the violence matters a lot. Violence against people who have nothing to do with the problem is never justified.
Rebelling against violent police is perfectly justified. Rebelling against a terrorist state that commit atrocities is perfectly justified. All out war against a invader is perfectly justified.
Killing civilians, murdering civilians and taking them postage is not ever justified. This is either war crime or terrorism.
So, protip here: food is never inherently bad, because we’re omnivorous. We can eat a lot of things, what matter is a balance so we have all the necessary nutrients. That balance doesn’t need to be in one day, you can do it over the week.
There is some bad food still. The bad food is the overprocessed food. Soda beverages for example are mostly processed sugar and water, so you’ll only get energy out of it and no nutrients. Overly processed food is often this way : too much raw sugar or fat. You need the things around it for the nutrients.
See the NOVA ratings to know about how processed the food is. Basically, group 4 is the bad one and is the one to avoid.
