Love this post. I’ll pin it for more visibility. And once you get a good list, I can add to the sidebar. Oh, I’d also put each link on a new line, just to make it easier to read. It looks one long link in each section, currently. Or like you said, I can make a post later and organize it if you want too.

My contributions:

Dan Murrell on YouTube. I find I’m in agreement with his reviews most of the time.

The Filmcast podcast is the only one I listen to regularly these days.

canthidium, to movies in [DISCUSSION] What director(s) do you think have the best filmography?
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

I’m a huge fan of body horror and Cronenberg is the king. His son, Brandon, has been doing interesting stuff as well. Highly recommend Possessor if you haven’t seen it.

canthidium, to cooking in [QUESTION] What is your favorite cut of steak and what's your go-to cooking method?
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

I can get a 400g steak for about $10 or less, feeds 2 with sides. A cheap luxurious dinner.

This is my favorite thing about sous vide. The cheapest cuts still come out perfectly tender and juicy.

canthidium, to movies in Directors are turning to streaming to fulfil their epic visions – and avoid ‘bum ache’
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

I read it as “bum acne” at first and was, likewise, very confused.

canthidium, to cooking in [DISCUSSION] What's the pickiest you have seen someone be?
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

Lol I was just listening to a podcast and one guy said he doesn’t like “wet” foods. And everyone quickly pointed out that he puts hot sauce on everything. But he didnt’ consider that “wet”.

@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

Agreed on the cons. That planet was just dumb. And yeah that credits scene was definitely a fishing line to Marvel/X-Men fans.

So you didn’t quote the part where I said I was just looking for clarification, and not attacking.

Why would I quote the part I’m not responding to? And it’s not like your comment is hidden. It’s right above my comment for anyone to see…

Does it mean it’s not either. I’m making the assumption that they’re going to announce days beforehand so their base knows what they’re voting for.

Yep, you’re making assumptions. This is also not like an election. There’s no 'base" to tell. The people that vote will be told what they need internally.

Because writers never ask questions of spokespersons, either on or off the record, and get information that’s accurate that they would put in their story, right?

Yes, they ask questions and the spokesperson tells them what they need/want to. And off the record wouldn’t be published. What are you not understanding?

I was just trying to find out if you were some kind of insider who knew what you were speaking about, to learn something new and different about the subject being discussed. I wasn’t trying to publicly embarrass you, was just seeing that what you were saying was different than what the article was saying.

If you were trying to learn something new, you wouldn’t be trying to prove people wrong with your comments. Come on, man.

Lol did you report me…to me? You do realize I’m a mod here as well as an admin? Anyway. Enough. I’ve given you enough leeway and you keep with attacks, breaking community as well as LW rules. Goodbye.

Again. No one said there are more now than ever. Just seems like there’s been a rise lately. Even if there was 1 made in the last 20 years and then 2 made recently, that would still be a rise. A very small one but still.

There’s no need to be so hostile and attack others, breaking community and site rules in the process. Maybe you should take a break.

canthidium, to cooking in [DISCUSSION] Let's talk about celebrity chefs and other food personalities.
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

Oh definitely Kenji. I’m a huge sous vide cooker and loved all his sous vide stuff on Food Labs.

canthidium, to movies in ‘It Follows’ Sequel ‘They Follow’ With Maika Monroe Launches At AFM Via NEON
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

Slightly off topic, but when I first watched It Follows, I hated it. But when I rewatched it, it became one of my favorite horror movies ever. Do you all have this happen sometimes? Is it just not being in the right mood? Not paying attention? Growing as a person? I think for me I was annoyed with the character’s actions. But I’ve become way more lenient on what I consider “unrealistic” character actions. People in high stress stuations rarely make the best decisions and I accept that more in movies.

Curious your thoughts.

Loved it. I think I read that they purposely did it to make it not able to place in any time period. No cell phones. Everyone looks vaguely 80s style. Lots of older cars. But then this weird future e-reader in a seashell? wtf.
