!Cooking will become the new main LW culinary community. !AskCulinary, !Food, and !Recipes will be locked until such time we have a larger user base that can support those similar communities. We will periodically check in with each community to gauge whether it’s the right time to reopen. There will be a pinned post pointing user to join !cooking in each community.
This is not meant to be a permanent decision and we hope Lemmy grows to be able to support every niche there is.
I really hope they don’t abandon what made them great. They’ve become my favorite studio. Almost every movie they put out, I absolutely love or can at least appreciate the big swing. Movies like Lamb don’t get made by any other studio and still be able to be seen by most. I don’t understand this decision after how Everything Everywhere All at Once was received.
Every time I see a discussion on the topic of intermissions or movies being too long, I have to recommend the RunPee app. Been using it for years and I never worry about missing anything when I have to go.
The app has a timer that you start at the beginning of the movie and there are “peetimes” where you can either be notified or keep an eye out for key words to remind you it’s a good time to go. Then while you’re doing your business, you can can read a short synopsis of what you missed. The devs try to find the best times where you won’t miss much and they even tell you what times are the best out of the few they pick. They are very spoiler conscience so you don’t have to worry about getting spoiled.
The app also tells you if there’s anything during or after the credits so you know whether you should wait or not. I’m not affiliated with them in any way. It’s just one of my most used apps and I want to spread the word.
I don’t know where any of the positive reviews are coming from. It was awful. Not even for a MCU movie, it was a bad movie, period. Everything is so disjointed and all over the place. There’s no explanation for things that need explanations and they over-explain things that are obvious. The villain, while having some motivation, was just weak and forgettable.
Brie Larson was in and out. Sometimes she was decent, but a lot of times felt like she was reading off cue cards. Teyonah Parris was OK, but she’s terrible at fight choreography. She kept running up and getting in position constantly and just looked off. Sam Jackson was a clown. I mean I don’t think he had a single line that wasn’t a joke. I don’t even get his characterization at all. Iman Vellani was the best thing about this film. She was a delight every time she was on screen and I love how she’s the new ‘Fury’ in recruiting the YA team. Glad to see references to the other members finally.
The whole singing planet was just…IDK. The flerkin stuff was OK but I felt wore out its welcome, especially the end there. But the mid credits scene was interesting. Beast looked kinda weird, but he seems to be a completely CGI character and not Kelsey Grammar, despite using his voice. So I wonder if the X-Men are only in that universe. It would give an explanation why we haven’t seen any mutants up until recently.
I’m still in as a long time Marvel fan, but wow, this movie was a mess.
Mythbusters debunked this, although they used a football field sized sheet and forklifts, but they were able to fold it 11 times. The myth they tested was 7 times being impossible.
!Cooking will become the new main LW culinary community but we will NOT be locking any of the other communities. We will treat !AskCulinary, !food, and !recipes the same as all the other niche communities in that we would encourage cross-posting to the main !cooking community as well as look into possibly automating this in the future. There will be a pinned post encouraging cross-posting in each community.
It’s only the tentative agreement. This is how it goes every time. Once they finalize it and all everyone has signed, then they will release the details. It could still be reversed at this stage.
You just want to argue, don’t you? They never announce the details right away. The details may come out but the official announcement won’t be until after it’s finalized. Same thing happened with the writers strike. The article says the details may emerge, not be officially announced.
I always find it hilarious when certain lines in media break into the zeitgeist. There’s tons that come and go but some just last forever. I still hear “Bye, Felicia” all the time. Also, anytime the name “Jeff” is mentioned.
Somewhere along the line, Ryan Gosling has become one of those actors where I want to see his movie based oh him alone. But this team actually adds a ton to the interest. Emily Blunt, Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Stephanie Hsu, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, and apparently Lee Majors is involved. And also David Leitch directing, I’m in!
