Daniel Craig is so great in that movie. I’m here for the Daniel Craig funny accent universe.

[QUESTION] Do you have any favorite quick broth recipes for homemade instant ramen?

I picked up a bunch of unflavored instant ramen packets with the intention of making my own. I’m a big fan of Korean Ramyun packs and make them often, but they are getting pricy nowadays. Does anyone else in c/cooking do this as well? What are your favorite quick broth recipes?

Lol, will do, thanks!

That sounds perfect, thanks so much!

Thanks! Perilla and truffle oil would be so good. I usually add a little sesame oil and soy sauce in most ramyun as well. I did try making Gyudon (Japanese thin sliced beef over rice/noodles) recently using dashi. Turned out pretty good. Miso is definitely a staple, even just mixing some paste with water for a quick soup.

One day I may try making an actual ramen broth but that takes forever, lol. I’m thinking about doing just a simple garlic and ginger fry and adding in chicken broth, sesame oil, and soy sauce for a quick Shoyu style broth. Probably experiment with everything you mentioned as well. Thanks!

Oh that sounds great too! Appreciate the tip!

Nice, thanks. I’m going try it out. Not sure about the aerogarden, but maybe I can put a small pot next to my big one and use the light.

Oh nice, an adaptation of Lovecraft’s “From Beyond”. Thanks!

Ugh, always one. Was waiting for this comment to come.

No, I do not have my phone out throughout the movie. Sometimes, I check the dark lock screen for a notification occasionally when I feel a vibration, which not a single person notices except for me. But I usually just pay attention for the key words to a peetime that I preplanned to take before the movie started.

Since using that app, I don’t mind having to go, even multiple times. For whatever reason I kept having to go during Flower Moon but it was nice not worrying about what I missed.

The only reason I wouldn’t want an actual intermission is having to deal with a bunch of people going all at once. I hate dealing with crowds and I like just being by myself most of the time. I usually go to matinees on Fridays when I can while most people are at work but the movie is still new. But a lot of times I end up waiting til the middle of the next week so I have an almost empty theater. I know not everyone can do that, but I’m grateful I can.

It depends on the movie though. I love going to see the opening of MCU movies or something that I know will be fun to watch with a crowd. My favorite theater memory is when I saw Endgame and there was this girl a few seats down from me that was bawling her eyes out when the “on your left” portal scene happened. She had to be around 10 and it was just amazing seeing such emotion and investment from a child. It instantly made me feel like a kid again.

This is definitely the plan for sure. Whether we lock or leave open the niche communities, we don’t want them gone forever. This merge is just something we’re looking at to help encourage more posts and content in general, which hopefully will give people more reason to sub, and then once the userbase is enough to support, those niche communities can thrive. Locking those communities, if we go that route, is always meant to be temporary.

Pretty amazing. I was fascinated by the look the whole time. To me, it had a look similar to B&W photos that had been colorized. Which really gave it this sense of the time period. It definitely looked like it was filmed in the 20s/30s.

It was very well paced. I do think it could have been a little tighter but it didn’t feel like 3.5 hours at all.

I love that Colman Domingo is showing up in more stuff. And now a starring role. He’s great and deserves it.

‘Alien: Romulus’: Ridley Scott Says Fede Álvarez’s Movie Is “F***ing Great” (deadline.com)

Of course he’s going to say that, but somehow this is the first I’ve heard that Fede Álvarez is directing an Alien movie. It’s hard to be optimistic about a new Alien announcement lately, but I’m hoping this gets a treatment similar to Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey. It’s also a Hulu release so we’ll see.

what? You’re the one that said Fede’s films weren’t as successful as 10 Cloverfield Lane.

I don’t think either have been a breakout hit in the way 10 Cloverfield Lane was

I’m wholly agreed that you can have a subjective artistic opionion, but you described it as a breakout hit, which is what you say when a movie is financially successful. A “breakout” also assumes acceptance by the masses, or at least more than not, which is not at all what a subjective or artistic opinion would entail. I could maybe go with it if you said cult hit, but breakout means something else entirely.

This was exactly my thinking as well. And I’m cautiously optimistic that Fede may take Alien back to its horror roots.

I don’t know if Fede is necessarily the prime choice, Dan at least had the excellent 10 Cloverfield Lane under their chops, but I think giving relatively new directors tired franchises is great.

Not sure what you mean here. Fede has 3 feature films under his belt already, one being the Evil Dead reboot. Dan only had 1 film before making Prey. Fede will also have around twice as many years of experience as Dan did when he made Prey. Fede’s first feature was a decade ago, not exactly new.

Awesome! Korean food is so delicious. I grew up eating it and I’m so glad it’s become known worldwide more.

Yep, agreed completely. The premise is interesting and Cage is actually pretty good without being too over the top but the rest is tonally all over the place. It tries to be serious and then Jean Ralphio comes in and is a cartoon. I left pretty disappointed at the potential.

OMG, Grave of the Fireflies is my favorite movie I never want to watch again. It’s incredibly heartbreaking. But it’s so good!

I love Ben Schwartz. I even saw him and Thomas Middleditch do their improv show a couple years ago. But I always see Jean Ralphio when I see him. It’s just such a good character, lol.

Thank you. Just need some people to post as well. I’m the only one mostly, lol
