Seriously. I don’t want to install something on my phone when the dev is just using a WebView, if that’s what it’s called. When the app is basically just a website with the browser hidden....
On my desktop I have browser tabs for WhatsApp, messenger, Skype, gMailChatTalkHangouts and slack. I know slack’s app was ass but I miss the rest.
I want a discrete app that doesn’t crash with chrome and which sits in my tooltray so I don’t have to fucking search for it whenever something makes a noise (ctrl-alt-a). I want to see it from the blink in the corner and not by scanning 31 windows of 7 groups of 12 tabs each.
Often times I just give up and hope it also makes my phone spork too so I can grab it there.
Currently, I run Unraid and have all of my services’ setup there as docker containers. While this is nice and easy to setup initially, it has some major downsides:...
First, hire a team of energetic full-time container bros. Half of them will help architect your setup, and other half will focus entirely on supporting the container cult.
When you’re talking to an open source dev, just remember that they are literally giving you their time for free, and they are people who don’t like to be treated poorly....
I’m not sure what release I’m reading, but maybe some of our stress is related to primary-school failures drunkenly vomiting letters onto Twitter and holding them up like a watercolor needing a fridge.
The 21-year-old New Zealand MP Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke, her country’s youngest MP since 1853, honoured the Indigenous people of New Zealand by performing a traditional haka, or war cry, as part of her maiden speech in December. In the resurfaced video, the chant reverberates around the parliamentary chamber as other Māori...
Does anybody know why dbus exists? I’ve been wracking my brain trying to come up with a usecase for dbus that isn’t already covered by Unix sockets....
Vi (and other mode-switch vietnam-era editors with cult like followings of which there are none) really impaired my first few weeks of comp sci until a t-a showed me there are options. Modal editors were neat when required, but then we got full keyboards and control keys.
Man, does vi suck, but its thuggy PR volunteers do a good job of keeping people from assessing alternatives.
Reminder that compilation from source is absolutely futile to support because of the arbitrary nature of libs and deps on the machine at time of build and replication of the environment for repro. KThx
Just saw this picture with "good Disney Star Wars", do you agree? (preview.redd.it)
If you could have any game remade by a studio of your choice, who would you want working on what?
For example, I’d take We Happy Few and put it into the hands of either Remedy (of Alan Wake & Control fame) or IO Interactive (of Hitman series fame).
Why in the year 2024 and with all the knowledge humans have now do people still believe in religion?

Can't we just start calling it "Formerly Twitter" instead?
Pretty much the title. I think you all know what I’m talking about.
Not really, since I'm the admin 😁 (sh.itjust.works)

Kubernetes? docker-compose? How should I organize my container services in 2024?
