cyberpunk007,

I don’t know when or why I learned vi, but once I used it for that short period of time I got used to it and it’s just muscle memory for me now. 99% of the dime I’m using x to delete text, yy (or ) and dd (or ) or p/P to copy/delete/paste lines, or :s/oldtext/newtext/g, or :wq or :x to write and quit. That’s like basically all I ever use VI for and it’s quick and easy to do. Once you know it, like anything, it’s quite a nice editor. Of course it can do a lot more than I typically use it for.

If you think it’s complicated, think about the first time you had to type sudo apt-get install firefox instead of googling Firefox and double clicking an executable.

cyberpunk007,

But less is more

cyberpunk007,

By that logic get away from Linux, eventually you’ll have to touch a shell and google some things to find out what to type inside a terminal. It’s not hard to learn i for insert and type stuff and esc to get out, colon x to save and quit. If you can’t remember those 3 steps you can’t even update your system on a command line lol.

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade sudo pacman -Syyu

Etc. 3+ things to remember in each example.

cyberpunk007,

To each their own

cyberpunk007,

Doesn’t matter when you download off of dozens at once. This is what torrents do.

cyberpunk007,

Red pill easy. Make note of all the stock stuff that comes over the next couple decades, gain more than 10 mill and have more life experience in the tougher times.

cyberpunk007,

It’s a configurable setting on the admin side. I managed a lot of m365 tenants.

cyberpunk007,

Yes, and while you can move it phone to phone on iOS, you cannot on Android. So stupid.

If you are forced to use it by your company just use it for that email, nothing else. Use something like authy instead.

cyberpunk007,

I can’t wait to no longer find a keyboard without this key.

cyberpunk007,

Also known as fist+c

cyberpunk007,

It’s already bad enough that windows 11 has a bing AI button on the top left AND top right corners of the start menu. Like wtf

cyberpunk007,

Ah yes, just like you had that option with the windows key right?

cyberpunk007,

But this far they haven’t abused that like other organizations.

cyberpunk007,

Ya that’s true, but other orgs get the market share and start abusing it in other ways. Ad injection. Price hikes. Etc.

cyberpunk007,

Not as “safe” as you think in that regard (I use arch btw), the reason they don’t want it is because you lose control as the administrator. Once everyone is running some flavour of Linux and people report problems, guess who’s gotta look at it? The IT department. It’s a management nightmare compared to windows.

cyberpunk007,

Good point. The company would not only save money by not buying windows, but by not even having an IT department

cyberpunk007,

Recently went through this, did not continue with hp and went brother, couldn’t be happier.

cyberpunk007,

Maybe used them lots?

cyberpunk007,

My 2 year old brother (all in one, not a human) same story. Works great with Linux. Better than my hp, even.

cyberpunk007,

You really should recycle

cyberpunk007,

Yeah I’m only running it because truenas scale uses it

What search engine do you recommend that isn't Google or Bing?

I’m still trying to de-Google my life, little by little. I don’t trust Bing for similar reasons. DDG is feeling shady of late. What’s the search engine you all recommend that I can inject into my daily life? Is there perhaps a search engine that is focused on code, or have we just all moved on to AI for searching?...

cyberpunk007,

People use bing? I find the results just like a dogs breakfast. Such a mess.
