doctorcrimson, to programmer_humor in Not mocking cobol devs but yall are severely underpaid for keeping fintech alive

I think the mention of fintech in the text makes an implication of online store of some sort, where I could see it being profitable because it’s a lot more work to be able to generate listings and accept payment and shipping information.

There is more obscure media than ever, it just connects less people you’re likely to ever meet in person.

Yeah I grew up with at least one parent, I’m sad to hear it isn’t the same for all of us and/or that some of you have no memories of your childhood.

Alex D. Linz did a pretty good job, I thought.

Check out A Heist with Markiplier sometime, it’s like the video form of a choose your own adventure book.

doctorcrimson, to linuxmemes in Accurate?

Yeah, honestly, when Windows packaged Telemetry data collection it was a controversy but people quickly found out how to disable it.

So basically, it’s a meme originating from Star Trek wherein a species communicates exclusively through idioms and descriptions of events, making it impossible to translate without an understanding of their overall culture and history. Shaka When the Walls Fell probably means failure, it can be translated as “wow” in best case or “this is devastating” in the worst case.

If my Ink Tank Printer suddenly posted SHAKA WHEN THE WALLS FELL then I would be taking a few steps back and grabbing some towels.

That sounds cool, but given that bank interest creates currency directly that means if it continues at that rate then eventually peso value will start to see a sharp decline.

I once had a friend who was robbed of all kinds of stuff including a PS3, and that the guy was signed into his Netflix changing account profiles the very same day. I told him he can just get a tracking number by calling Playstation and that the active police officer can use it to track them. Thing is, the officer ghosted him for like 8 months despite having everything they needed to immediately find the exact location of the perpetrator actively using the stolen property.

It’s got huge amounts of applicability in many lifestyles and situations that most people never realize until the moment arrives. I once played a fun game that had you guess a number between 1 and 1 Billion with them telling you higher or lower to earn your freedom. Takes a couple of minutes at most.

doctorcrimson, (edited ) to lemmyshitpost in THE DAY HATH COME

Piece of Shit Pie as the internet usually refers to him, was an office holder in the FCC appointed by then sitting US President Donald Trump in 2017. His most noticeable policy stances included a complete end to Net Neutrality regulations in the USA and to or from abroad, despite previously claiming that he didn’t think the board of unelected members had the authority to dictate it. Once he switched his stance to deregulation it would have had the effect of letting telecommunications companies and other intermediary ISPs decide what content or sources their users have access to: the internet as a whole to all US citizens could have been completely controlled by a small group of companies, their customers potentially seeing only what they want them to see and not having access or freedom to send or receive connections.

The USA Public School System notoriously doesn’t care about science or education in general. They’ve been isolated groups of independent small governments held to no national standard since their inception. They usually just prepare kids to blend in with their local community: manerisms, speech patterns, bare minimum math and reading skills.

doctorcrimson, to memes in Japan is living in the future that the 1990s dreamed of.

The future has way too much nationalism and misogyny.

Definitely everyone. Art is good, reveals are good, the joke density is good with back to back quips and reveals, but for some reason it kind of left me lacking any sense of resolution. Maybe I’ve become jaded from people “ironically” posting conservative hate comics that I now view each new comic I see with a sense of apprehensive doubt.
