ech,

I view Pittsburgh as honorary Midwestern territory. It’s a fantastic city, too.

ech,

The US started as 13 colonies/states on the East coast. In the terminology, everything past that is “The West”, and this general area is the middle-ish part of that, so “Midwest”.

ech,

Never heard that term before, but looking into the original webcomic, it kind of comes off as a defense of bigotry and hate. Like, I get how it sort of relates to what everyone’s attributing it to, but if someone says they hate “those kinds of people”, should they really expect to not be harangued for it?

To be clear, I’m not trying to defend the user “just asking for evidence” here. Just questioning the source of this term, which seems, well, questionable.

ech,

What? Choosing to bash the existence of real people for views isn’t better. It’s legitimately worse than people who earnestly believe these things. At least they’re trying to improve things as they see it, even if it’s still horrible. Anyone promoting hate like this just for clout and money is the lowest of the low.

ech,

Because it exists in the context of his behavior over the last few years of becoming increasingly anti-trans and just shitty overall. It’s not so farfetched to see this and believe he’s in on it.

ech,

Ah yes, the poor bigot. “Stuck” being hateful because other people won’t stop judging them for it. It’s all their fault, really!

🙄

ech,

I’m not super familiar with current console allowances, but are you suggesting that people can just “host their own server” and not pay the psn or Xbox live fees that are forced onto them? I just don’t think that’s true. You have to pay the fee to connect to any server, even your own.

ech,

Not to say it’s objectively wrong, but if it’s someone like me that you’re watching a movie with, I generally expect quiet. A comment here and there is probably fine in the right context, but constantly breaking into conversation mid-movie is a distraction I don’t really appreciate. Generally, I think it’s important to understand the expectations of everyone involved.

ech, (edited )

Some people just enjoy being around friends, even if they’re not actively engaging each other.

ech,

My family does this. Even if I have watched it, if it’s a movie worth watching, it’s gonna answer all necessary questions. Just give it some damn time!

ech,

There unfortunately is no system in Lemmy (atm) to do this smoothly. When I was on lemmy.world, I used their system they had set up separately and that worked well, but for most instances, the only process to do something like that is to DM an admin directly, which will of course have greatly varied results, and that’s if the admin isn’t supportive of the abusive mod in the first place.

ech, (edited )

How is it “absurd bullshit”? Do you think it’s somehow a different element? At worst, it’s as bullshit as any other vitamin supplement, in that it’s technically helpful, but just far more than your body can make use of.

ech,

Fair enough. Personally I don’t think the words are an issue. It’s not medically applicable, but it’s just cereal, so shrug

ech, (edited )

I’m not sure why you’re putting those words in quotes as if they’re incorrect.

ech,

The first time I played MtG, my friend who was teaching me let me go off with the token deck he lent to me. I ended up making so many creature tokens I was just writing them down on a piece of paper. It was in the hundreds. And then when I swung my massive army at him, he Uno-Reverso-d me and basically killed me with my own creatures. I think it’s still the most brutal way I’ve lost a game of Magic and I absolutely loved it XD

ech,

What’s the limiting factor? I assume it’s something with gravity?

ech,

People still wouldn’t care. The value of privacy, for one’s self or others, has seriously cratered in the last few decades.

ech,

Nah, it just takes one user to get a community onto an instance’s All feed. After that, frequency and position are (mostly) based on the posts’ overall popularity. It’s more complicated than just that, but I don’t really understand how federation is incorporated in that.

And to put it in perspective, lemm.ee and startrek.website combined user total is <10k. sh.itjust.works has 28k and lemmy.world has 138k. Bound to be more diversity with numbers like that.

ech,

Pets aren’t dolls to mess with. Be kind to them.

ech,

Sure, you may have a 10-gallon hat, but do you have a 10-gallon milk carton?

ech,

Med I. Ares knows all the interesting people.
