I agree the internet is a cruel place but it’s also an extremely human response to react to tragedy with comedy. If the comic didn’t strike a chord with people in a very real way, I’m not sure people would still be finding ways to laugh at it. I mean, look at how many people cope with/joke about depression through memes. I don’t think it’s meant to be cruel, it’s just a natural human reaction to hardship and the reason it’s still around is because people do, in fact, give a very sad fuck.
I mean, Lean as a methodology is meant to improve efficiency so it makes sense that they’d want to follow those principles, but the issue is (at least in my business) that people don’t actually know or understand those principles so they’re not followed well and it does just turn into random buzzwords.
In theory, project management and the push for efficiency through certain (what might seem like useless) planning measures actually does make for a smoother, better work environment. In reality, very few people understand any of it and worry more about instant results and ignore long-term plans, making any discussion of the topics totally irrelevant and useless.
Ok so I have a super unserious one compared to everyone here but I am legit really proud of myself for it.
I have pretty bad trypophobia where I will have a pretty extreme visceral reaction to many different holes, patterns of them, etc. This includes nail holes in the wall so I have a hard time putting things up and especially taking things down. When I moved places a few years ago I tried to face this extremely irrational fear and made myself fill every single nail hole in our old apartment. I felt so ill and honestly still feel ill even typing this out. I had to lay down on the floor in the dark apartment for what felt like hours because I was so nauseous. But I did it. Never fucking doing it again, but I did it and nobody can take that from me. This year I even put up two frames all by myself.
What a fucking rollercoaster I just went through. I confused Dr Ruth with Canadian sex therapy royalty Sue Johanson and was so happy to hear she was still alive, then when I realized my error I looked up Sue and saw she died earlier this year, now my heart is broken but I’m happy for Dr Ruth.
When I sit down to pee, I HAVE to rub my hands together before I release the pee. I started because I was cold one day and have never been able to stop. I hate it but it makes me feel so wrong if I don’t do it. I’ve always wondered if other people do it or if they just think I just like rubbing my hands in the stall like a weirdo.
Ours is named Rachel because once a long time ago I had a dream that my bf cheated on me with someone named Rachel so now we always joke about Rachel doing things around our house when I’m not home. She’s been slacking a lot lately though, he’ll have to get a new girlfriend soon.
