governorkeagan,

If more subreddits moved over it might make people more willing to move over as well.

governorkeagan,

Same here. The communities I’ve interacted with here, if I was on the equivalent subreddit, I’d have be downvoted to hell for not knowing enough. I find I’m able to have proper discussions here

governorkeagan,

I’ve switched from Windows 11 to Pop!_OS and don’t have any complaints. It looks different to Windows (no start menu like windows) but that wasn’t a turn off for me. If you want something that looks closer to a windows machine, Mint is a great option

governorkeagan,

I couldn’t have said it better! This is exactly how I feel

What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

I am super sick right now and haven’t eaten much in a few days. It’s getting to the point where I am gonna need to force myself to eat something to keep my strength up but everything just sounds terrible to me right now. I have been subsisting mostly on small glasses of milk and the occasional packet of instant oatmeal....

governorkeagan,

I’ve done the smoothie before as well, not the same recipe but high calorie smoothies none the less.

governorkeagan,

I’ve been using Proton for about a year and a half now. It’s been really good for my needs, I started on the free version but then decided to pay to help support them and to get access to everything else (specifically SimpleLogin).

governorkeagan,

This. I used it for multiple months on the free plan and it worked perfectly.

governorkeagan,

StreetComplete is a great app to help contribute to OpenStreetMaps

I made it to Linux! What is your must-have FOSS or Free Software for linux?

Thank you so much, comrades! I am feeling pretty comfortable with linux mint, and now would like some suggestions for some absolutely necessary FOSS or free license software for the OS. So far I have the standard, Firefox, ThunderBird, LibreOffice, yada yada. Thank you again to everyone on the linux comm! sankara-salute

governorkeagan, (edited )

I’m loving these suggestions, definitely saving the post for later!

governorkeagan,

I’m loving Pop!_OS, would love to get one of their laptops as well but the shipping fee is insane

governorkeagan,

Pop!_OS has been great for me.

governorkeagan,

I was looking at getting a laptop from System76 but the shipping to Europe is insane. I’ve heard some good things about Tuxedo Computers. I don’t have personal experience with any of them so can’t comment on that

I finally switched back to Linux as my daily driver after a couple of years of being on nothing but Windows.

I ran Manjaro Linux as my daily driver a few years ago but slowly phased it out for Windows for some reason, and I’m finally back using Linux (currently Linux Mint). I gotta say, I don’t know why I ever switched back to Windows. There’s just so much freedom Linux gives you right off the bat that Windows is just plain...

governorkeagan,

Adding to what has already been said. It can help to differentiate when you use multiple OS’s but end up using one more than the rest.

Wanting to improve my Linux skills after 17 months of daily driving Linux

I’ve been daily driving Linux for 17 months now (currently on Linux Mint). I have got very comfortable with basic commands and many just works distros (such as Linux Mint, or Pop!_OS) with apt as the package manager. I’ve tried Debian as a distro to try to challenge myself, but have always ran into issues. On my PC, I could...

governorkeagan,

It would be the OS (in this context) that you use most often on a daily basis. When the OP logs onto their computer, they would be using Linux as opposed to Windows.

governorkeagan,

I’ve had the same experience with gaming in PopOS

governorkeagan,

I’ve been using Pop!_OS for about a month now and it’s been great! I only had one issue (completely my fault) which caused me to have a black screen upon login after a reboot.

governorkeagan, (edited )

I’m clearly out of the loop with the hate towards Brave. Why all the hate? Also, if it’s hated so much why is it still recommended on Privacy Guides?

EDITThank you for all the informative responses!

governorkeagan,

It’ll be interesting for sure! Specifically the big tech companies (looking at you Meta, Google, Microsoft)

governorkeagan,

True. But that might not be feasible for everyone and it seems like a short term fix

governorkeagan,

Has anyone used Vanilla OS here? It seems really interesting, would like to get some opinions.

governorkeagan,

Interesting. I might give it a go in a VM. I’m also waiting for the new DE from Pop!_OS, too may options lol

governorkeagan, (edited )

I’ve been using nvtop as well

governorkeagan,

I’ve been using nvtop but I’ll have a look at nvitop as well. Thank you!

governorkeagan,

It was frightening to watch that happen live. So many people were unable to get home after work because of the rioting. There were claims that they did it for the woman and children, but I fail to see how they helped anyone but themselves.
