Is it possible to use Google Drive reliably?

I’ve been using Google Drive in Windows for about a decade and have a good workflow. I recently transitioned to Linux but cannot seem to reliably connect my drive to the filesystem. My work provides unlimited Drive space and since it’s for work I have shared directories with coworkers that I need access to every day. Hence,...

Not gonna happen since Proton is all encrypted.

If I cared about Qubes, Intel would be an instant dealbreaker. Same as it was for Framework.

How do you self-host Obsidian?

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

I’ll have to look into that. It doesn’t work like Joplin where I can just connect it to the same remote backup within the app, across devices?

I'm new to networking and self-hosting and have no idea where to start.

I’ve been slowly working my way though a list of skills to learn, both to put on my resume and as personal growth. Networking is the next thing on this list. I am not sure what I am looking for, but I want to start another project. I have built many a personal computer, but the world of networking is a pretty foreign concept...

I don’t get caught up in titles. Businesses do.

Seemed to work okay!

what does your NGINX config look like?

Can you elaborate? I don’t know how to explain beyond what’s in the OP:

I created a proxy host in NGINX to forward requests from [subdomain] to [LAN Server] on [LAN] port 8097 (Jellyfin container).

What exactly does the NGINX “login page” say?

It says NGINX and has texts fields for email and password

Did you add your subdomain to your nginx configuration?

Yes

Posting your nginx configuration would be useful too.

Not sure what you mean, exactly. Does this help?

If you’re giving those companies personal info (name, phone, address, CC) they can track you regardless of what emails you use with each of them.

Good thing I’m not doing that.

And if you’re not giving them personal info I don’t see how that works.

…how what works, exactly?

Yeah so I register on both random site A and random site B with aliases @tfyuhegddssgvd.com, so what? How are they going to find out about each other?

You ever look at the Privacy Policy on any website ever? They all sell your information to data brokers.

And why risk a GDPR violation for such silly reasons?

It’s not a GDPR violation. And even if it was, that only applies inside the EU.

You cannot turn off the proton aliases

What do you mean? Of course you can.

I’ve caught a couple but they weren’t subtle about it at all. I got an email from Norton antivirus that referenced the seller directly. No shame.

Well. That doesn’t solve this problem. But thank you.

That’s unfortunate for you but really besides the point.

I can make a 20 click’s process in a gui be a single character command in the terminal.

If you can make it a single command in the terminal then you can make it a single click in a GUI and the GUI still wins…

LOL profit is the motive of literally every business on the planet. You don’t even need “basic economics” to understand that.

As James Downey once said: “What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this sub is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

LOL you’re just so kind, sharing your stolen media. Practically a saint, ain’t ya?

Well there’s a very realistic 3rd option where people get tired of the cat and mouse game and either suck it up and watch the ads or pony up for YouTube premium…?

ReVanced is not a modded YouTube app. None of these are.

Proton indexes your mail also now and I’ve had the exact opposite experience. Gmail and G Workspace in general is a fucking shitshow to find absolutely anything.
