You realize South Park is a comedy, right?

I don’t know what it is and don’t care. I’m tired of jumping through hoops just to install the software I need.

helenslunch,

No.

Okay well. I don’t have a script. I just use a computer.

If I need a script to make it work properly, it sucks.

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

You realize your computer won’t work without scripts, don’t you?

No, I don’t. In fact every Windows, Android or Mac computer I’ve used in my entire life works perfectly fine without manually running any scripts at all.

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

You can’t install them at all

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

That’s unfortunate for you but really besides the point.

I can make a 20 click’s process in a gui be a single character command in the terminal.

If you can make it a single command in the terminal then you can make it a single click in a GUI and the GUI still wins…

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

Because I have no other choice?

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

How can it not be true though?

How can it? It’s very simple, it takes far less time to click a mouse than it does to type a command.

Imagine doing this in a GUI: list the files in a large directory, ignore the ones with underscores in them, find the biggest file, read the last 1000 lines from it and count the number of lines containing a particular string.

Okay. I’m imagining it, it’s incredibly easy. What else?

Thats a couple of pretty straightforward commands in a terminal, could take 30s for an experienced terminal user. Or the same task could take many minutes of manual effort stuffing round with multiple GUI applications.

My guy, you’ve never used a file explorer?

I have no idea how GUI users can be even remotely productive.

Back at ya

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

There’s no way that’s true unless the GUI is straight garbage.

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

I don’t care how fast you can type, you can’t type faster than I can click.

If the GUI takes any time to load at all, it’s garbage.

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

No it’s not, you misread my statement. It’s regarding the type of link and not the site itself.

Links from Twitter shouldn’t have any Facebook tracking info

That’s not what I’m saying.

helenslunch,

Fuck all the way off🖕

@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

Well. That doesn’t solve this problem. But thank you.

Not helpful, thanks.

Not really going to justify my usage but suffice it to say my business is largely dependent on networking with the people who are active on social media.

Twitter and Reddit I am “read only” via Stealth and Squawker.

It removes the trackers from the ends of URLs

These are not tracking links in the conventional sense where they append tracking data to the legitimate link. They just hijack the link that someone else posts and replace it with an entirely new tracking link with a l.facebook.com domain.

No link cleaning software I have found works because of this.

what does your NGINX config look like?

Can you elaborate? I don’t know how to explain beyond what’s in the OP:

I created a proxy host in NGINX to forward requests from [subdomain] to [LAN Server] on [LAN] port 8097 (Jellyfin container).

What exactly does the NGINX “login page” say?

It says NGINX and has texts fields for email and password

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

Awww yeah, that did it man, thanks

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

Did you add your subdomain to your nginx configuration?

Yes

Posting your nginx configuration would be useful too.

Not sure what you mean, exactly. Does this help?
