hperrin, to asklemmy in Have you ever seen a rudolph moment happen in real life?

Everyone made fun of me for bringing a bunch of handheld radios to my sister’s campsite wedding (except my sister, actually, who loved the idea). Well it turns out the lot we were going to park everyone at was a tow away lot, so we needed to valet cars. My radios came in clutch for coordinating that.

hperrin, to memes in Its getting old.

Yeah a new TV is great. I’d like to be able to buy a house though.

Better than a light switch.

hperrin, to lemmyshitpost in You go to this link and give me one good reason why civilization isn't long past its peak.

It’s just a publicity stunt.

hperrin, to risa in Nothing good

I always thought this was a funny scene, because if you know what the parts of a printer are called, it’s obvious what “PC Load Letter” means. So Michael is obviously just bad at his job.

Load letter sized paper into the paper cassette, in case you didn’t know.

hperrin, to asklemmy in I use Brave to test whether my websites work on Chromium browsers, but their scummy actions lately make me want to find a new Chromium browser to test with. What's the best Chromium based browser?
hperrin, to selfhosted in Is this Seagate Exos drive too good to be true?

Aren’t they meant to go in data centers? You wouldn’t want a drive in a data center to spin down. That introduces latency in getting the data off of them.

Me every April 16th.

hperrin, to asklemmy in Go through your saved posts on Lemmy, what's something cool that you saved?

programming.dev/post/3830313

“The Absolute Minimum Every Software Developer Must Know About Unicode in 2023 (Still No Excuses!)”

If you’re a software dev, or just interested in how computers represent text, it’s a very good read.

hperrin, to memes in How many do you need?! *sobs*

Couch tumors.

hperrin, (edited ) to piracy in Downloading Websites

I’ve used wget to mirror websites. It works very well.

hperrin, to memes in Can you describe Lemmy in one picture?

Is she the one who starred in Barbean?

hperrin, to asklemmy in Do you know of any obscure useful websites?

I don’t have it on the promotional site right now, but here’s the breakdown:

  • Receive unlimited mail, 500MB storage: Free
  • Send unlimited mail*: $1/month
  • 2GB extra: $2/month
  • 10GB extra: $6/month
  • 20GB extra: $10/month
  • 100GB extra: $20/month
  • 1TB extra: $40/month

There are upcoming features that I haven’t done the market research and cost analysis for yet to determine pricing, but these are the features that are still in development:

  • Native mobile app (right now it’s a PWA): Free
  • IMAP/SMTP/CardDAV for third party clients and to import/export/sync: Undetermined price
  • Custom domain with unlimited addresses: Undetermined price
  • Additional users for you custom domain: Undetermined price
  • The reason for charging $1/month to send email is so that spammers won’t use my service to send spam. A spammer is very unlikely to divulge their real payment information.
hperrin, (edited ) to selfhosted in This Week in Self-Hosted (26 January 2024)

I released a relevant thing this week:

hub.docker.com/r/sciactive/nephele

It works well with nginx-proxy-manager.
