Beware of camera support. I’d bet it won’t work on yours.

“KDE is heavy” is so 2000s. It’s been quite a while since KDE is very tight on resources usage. Unless you’re running a raspberry or similar, there’s no point on constraining yourself with one of those desktops for an everyday use device.

Yup. I think I needed to manually install the touch keyboard. But once installed, it works as expected. Touch the screen or remove the physical keyboard, and touch mode gets activated. Whenever touching a text field, the soft keyboard pops out. It’s massive, though (well, about the same size as the one for Windows).

Except battery lasts more on Linux. Not to mention suspend ACTUALLY works, and won’t wake at random times while in your backpack and kill your battery before you can actually use it when you need it. Which Windows does. And yeah, most people do NOT need anything specific from Microsoft to be productive.

Seems the one I use is Maliit. It’s on the chunky side, but for the few times I type without the real keyboard, it does the job just fine I guess.

Thanks so much! I never found that thread. Only another guy complaining about the same thing…I just ran the command, hopefully it won’t do that crap anymore.

Feels a bit like a Quino style idea with different drawing style.

What search engine do you recommend that isn't Google or Bing?

I’m still trying to de-Google my life, little by little. I don’t trust Bing for similar reasons. DDG is feeling shady of late. What’s the search engine you all recommend that I can inject into my daily life? Is there perhaps a search engine that is focused on code, or have we just all moved on to AI for searching?...

How would you go about setting searxng for search suggestions? I’m not sure i understand the documentation.

Any idea on whether is there more devices supported now? Those release notes are quite gibberish to me. My Surface SP7 camera isn’t compatible as of yet :(

Thanks for the clarification! I thought they were related.

Next smartphone I buy, which one do you recommend?

Things that make me angry about my current smartphone Samsung Galaxy S21Ultra on a Verizon plan is the mandatory software updates in which they install WITHOUT MY PERMISSION stupid apps like Netflix and addictive gambling games and stacking block games and Candy crush. God knows what else they install without my permission. I...

Pinephone hasn’t quite reached daily driver status… And don’t get me started on the PPP.

Ignoring the gapps part is… Tricky.

iturnedintoanewt,
@iturnedintoanewt@lemm.ee avatar

Well yeah…but eventually you end up needing some banking app or some other crap that might need G-Services.

iturnedintoanewt,
@iturnedintoanewt@lemm.ee avatar

I guess that’s the point, really…a lot of people wouldn’t consider those caveats to be…prime for daily driver status.

Except, in my country, the banking website will NEED a token generated on the banking app. Internet banking assumes a smartphone with their app…or it’s completely blocked what you’re allowed to do.

Is the PPP any good now? I have one in the drawer, it was mostly unusable when I bought it.

This. Free MAS HWID activation. You don’t get any better than that.

Link previews however, are calculated server-side. So, yeah. They see any link posted.

…96? How is 96 a point of reference when you are making a scale from scratch?

Pity that the actor for Alex had to fuck it up for everyone.

I doubt the show will continue after this. In the books he continues to be relevant, as the group is separated for…reasons.

AMD+Wayland+dual monitor = Screen flickering

So…I have an…interesting behavior I’ve never had before with an Nvidia or integrated intel chipsets…I have now my AMD card plugged both to a normal HDMI monitor, and then to another HDMI TV. Both work well. However, when I turn the TV off… The monitor will start flickering. About three flickers every minute or so....

I think it’s indeed related to detecting the TV on and off. On the previous PC (this one is just brand new) this didn’t happen.
