Seems the one I use is Maliit. It’s on the chunky side, but for the few times I type without the real keyboard, it does the job just fine I guess.

Except battery lasts more on Linux. Not to mention suspend ACTUALLY works, and won’t wake at random times while in your backpack and kill your battery before you can actually use it when you need it. Which Windows does. And yeah, most people do NOT need anything specific from Microsoft to be productive.

What search engine do you recommend that isn't Google or Bing?

I’m still trying to de-Google my life, little by little. I don’t trust Bing for similar reasons. DDG is feeling shady of late. What’s the search engine you all recommend that I can inject into my daily life? Is there perhaps a search engine that is focused on code, or have we just all moved on to AI for searching?...

How would you go about setting searxng for search suggestions? I’m not sure i understand the documentation.

Is the PPP any good now? I have one in the drawer, it was mostly unusable when I bought it.

Next smartphone I buy, which one do you recommend?

Things that make me angry about my current smartphone Samsung Galaxy S21Ultra on a Verizon plan is the mandatory software updates in which they install WITHOUT MY PERMISSION stupid apps like Netflix and addictive gambling games and stacking block games and Candy crush. God knows what else they install without my permission. I...

Well yeah…but eventually you end up needing some banking app or some other crap that might need G-Services.

@iturnedintoanewt@lemm.ee avatar

I guess that’s the point, really…a lot of people wouldn’t consider those caveats to be…prime for daily driver status.

Except, in my country, the banking website will NEED a token generated on the banking app. Internet banking assumes a smartphone with their app…or it’s completely blocked what you’re allowed to do.

I doubt the show will continue after this. In the books he continues to be relevant, as the group is separated for…reasons.

How to download ALL dependencies for an external .deb package (rescuezilla)?

Hi everyone! I’m trying to prepare a live iso with a USB stick including the additional rescuezilla package (or, alternatively, additional packages for a live rescuezilla .iso). Sadly rescuezilla does not support encryption, and so I’d like to be able to create/encrypt an image on one single live iso, not having to do a...

That’s…a lot of dependencies to manually get. This wouldn’t have worked. And I need a reproducible method so I can do this fully offline without having to match apt to anything online.

iturnedintoanewt,
@iturnedintoanewt@lemm.ee avatar

Still not correct. The path is perfectly correct. Even using full path. This method EXPECTS a repo package, not a file. I already figured the answer, it’s in this thread.

Thanks! How does this work with OS permissions? As it’s rescuezilla and veracrypt I’m trying to use, both need access to the system partitions in order to be able to mount/read/copy to them. Flatpak can be a bit limited regarding permissions…Moreso on a live iso I guess.

Again, incorrect. The answer is above. And still, you haven’t read the thread. This is NOT about getting rescuezilla to install in the current PC. This is to get it to install in a DIFFERENT PC, which happens to be OFFLINE. So apt by itself will FAIL when it tries to resolve dependencies.

Where to get raised relief maps?

Ok this one might be silly but…where can I buy a real raised relief map these days? It’s for a gift…Is there a trustworthy seller making them? I mean, with real physical elevations of mountains etc, not just shading to give it a “look-like”. I’m interested maybe in European regions or the whole world, not US-centric....

Thanks! This seems to fit the bill perfectly! I just wish there were more options for sizes, but otherwise, very likely will order from there. Did you use their site before?

Sigh…seems Spain is not on the shipping list…for…reasons? They seem to ship to about any surrounding country, but Spain…
