jacksilver, to linux in ELI5 the whole Wayland vs X11 going on.

I get your point. I don’t know about OP, but I hadn’t seen a similar thread, but I usually browse all so easily miss posts for specific communities.

Also, I’ve found search on Lemmy hit or miss. The federation aspect of everything makes search sometimes difficult or confusing. For example, what community would most likely have already provided an ELI5 post and how would it have been phrased?

jacksilver, to linux in ELI5 the whole Wayland vs X11 going on.

Not OP, but the point of asking for an ELI5 is that sometimes you don’t even know where to start. For example I clicked the link you provided and only have more questions as I don’t really know what people mean by display servers, etc.

Sure I could look everything up and try to understand, but the hope is someone in the community might provide a better or faster summary than what can currently be found online.

Yeah @mrbusiness had me a bit worried, but it looks like you’re right, if there is a third movie it will be all or part of Messiah. At least according to this interview - polygon.com/…/dune-how-many-parts-movies-sequels-…

jacksilver, to asklemmy in What is your unpopular flim opinion

Did you read the books? Having read the books it was a blast for me, but those sound like fair criticisms if you aren’t already familiar with the source material (which isnt a good thing for a movie to do, it should be able to stand on its own).

jacksilver, to memes in Education - It's about to get wild

Do you have any links on that, it was something I had wanted to explore, but never had the time or money.

jacksilver, to memes in Education - It's about to get wild

It’s interesting, because people say they can only get better, but I’m not sure that’s true. What happens when most new text data is being generated by LLMs or we accidentally start labeling images created through diffusion as real. Seems like there is a potential for these models to implode.

It’s 50 movies, just look at it before posting (and yes it is on there).

jacksilver, to piracy in How to make sure transmission is using my vpn?

There are sites like this (www.whatismyip.net/tools/…/index.php?hash=1b0ed88…) that let you download a torrent. When you run the torrent in the client the site tells you the IP of your torrent client. Based on that info you can tell if it’s running through the VPN or not.

jacksilver, to asklemmy in Why do people hate on mobile games, call them "not real games" and mock them, when some mobile-exclusive games are the best games I've played?

Peglin and slay the spire are both great on the phone!

jacksilver, (edited ) to asklemmy in What game do you play to just chill?

I saw you mention peggle and rouge lites. If you haven’t checked it out yet you should try peglin - store.steampowered.com/app/1296610/Peglin/.

Its a great peggle based rouge lite with a good amount of replay ability (plus there is an excellent android app too).

It was actually the us government that built a second one in secret, which actually sounds about right.

jacksilver, to asklemmy in How are in-store pickup sales tracked for revenue?

That’s only from a shipping/logistics matter. However, whether sales are attributed to the e-commerce platform or the brick and mortar store is dependent on the company and their approach to the business. I’ve seen both scenarios and they each have their pros and cons. Ultimately though sometimes places do one or the other depending on what platform they want to show growth or revenue in (like a brick and mortar trying to increase e-commerce sales will count orders shipped to a store as e-commerce).
