First thing I do whenever working on an electronics project is set down a bowl. Screw comes out, goes into bowl. Just don’t knock it over.

Because just because you’re old enough to make your own choices, it doesn’t mean your choices are good. And from the other side, just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s right. Lots of older guys who date much younger women are very predatory and manipulative.

But if you play a sorcerer, you can have charisma for when you want to avoid fights and fireballs for when you don’t!

Looks pretty normal for canned creamed corn to me. Its not a thing I would describe as pretty to begin with, and this is pretty much the lowest tier of it.

I can’t really speak to the relative quality of my chin, but I’ll have you know I grow a beard because I’m too lazy to shave.

Because vim (and emacs too!) is a powerful editor that works purely on command line and most people who are experienced in the Unix world are generally familiar with it. There are plenty of easier editors to use, like nano, that are also widely distributed and you are free to change your default. Being really powerful but you kind of need to know what you’re doing is basically unix’s whole thing.

Chicken drumsticks (without skin), mac and cheese mixed with shells and cheese, plus canned corn.

Nothing fancy but this wouldn’t look so horrific with some not-awful lighting. It’s a terrible picture of some pretty typical food.

I jump jobs something like every 2-3 years and frankly have never found that to be an impediment to finding new employment. And every time it’s been for more money. I’m sure that some hiring managers see this as a problem but I also think that most of them understand the realities of today’s job market.

johannesvanderwhales, to asklemmy in What hobby do you have that no one else in your family shares?

Video games. None of my family gets it at all.

johannesvanderwhales, to asklemmy in What's a food you love, that isn't worth making from scratch?

Yeah I make a lot of bread but croissants are a whole other level of complicated.

Not to mention that seeing how much butter goes into them would probably make me not want to eat them.

I dunno, I see people complain about “why do we have to read books that are hundreds of years old?” too pretty frequently. Some people are just hostile to education. Honestly, cost aside, I’m a little disappointed in the number of people who complain about college as if the only thing you get out of college is a piece of paper.

Are people trying to argue that we shouldn’t teach kids basic arithmetic?

johannesvanderwhales, to linuxmemes in Can you install thid 25 year old program?

Anakin: “I’m going to install this 25 year old game”

Padme (smiling): “Install and run it, right?”

Anakin: smirk

Padme (frowning): “Install and run it, right?”

johannesvanderwhales, to asklemmy in What are some modern bullshit jobs?

Professional athletes? Nah. Professional sports team owners on the other hand…
