For some reason I thought that modern machine-made socks couldn’t be darned. Maybe because my understanding is that other modern clothes like pants that rip next to a seam can’t be reliably repaired? (Like, the seam holds but the fabric itself rips)

I haven’t been able to leave them entirely, but I try to avoid B&H as much as I can. They were sued by the federal government twice over civil rights violations, particularly for their treatment of Hispanic employees. It wasn’t just stuff like not promoting employees and paying them less, but Jim Crow-era stuff like not allowing them to use certain bathrooms, as recently as the past decade. Once I could’ve written off as some bad manager, but the Feds sued them again a decade later and it was basically all the same stuff, so to me that’s a cultural problem.

I also worked at a manufacturer where they were by far our biggest reseller, larger than everyone else combined including our own direct sales. They were a giant pain to work with; every interaction felt like they were flipping us a giant middle finger. Our accounting team especially hated dealing with them; we got some new people in who figured out they were always trying to claim discounts and refunds they weren’t entitled to. If our people pushed back and could show they weren’t allowed they would cave, but it took a lot of their time every month. I try now to buy from their smaller rivals like Adorama or AbelCine even if it might cost a little more; most of them were so much nicer to work with.

I think this varies by country, so you may need to specify where you’re at. For instance, I noticed that content on Hulu in the U.S. was being advertised as available on Disney+ in Canada, like the miniseries they did on Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee and their sex tape. I don’t think that would ever fit with the Disney brand in the U.S., which is supposed to be very family-oriented, so they use a different brand for more adult stuff.

Why are we required to sit down when getting our blood pressure taken? Would the results be affected if we were standing?

when patients get their blood pressure taken at the doctor’s office, the doctor requires you to sit, legs uncrossed. But what would happen if we stand up to get our blood pressure taken? can we stand? or do we have to sit? And why?

I found a service like this 8 or 10 years ago. That one also let you reply to emails from the temp address. You couldn’t send a new email to initiate a conversation but you could reply to one to continue a conversation. Unfortunately I didn’t save that link so don’t know what the service was now, so it’s good to know about this.
