Yeah my car has remote start. I can do it with no subscription with my remote. Additionally I can pay for OnStar and do it through the app. It also has heated seats and a heated steering wheel, and unlike some brands those aren’t locked behind a subscription since they are literally just vehicle hardware, not cloud services.
It’s hilarious to me that I have to jump through so many hoops to get my old games working on windows when they run almost out of the box on Linux, but on the flip side with all the launchers and shit built into AAA games today it’s a hassle to get them set up on Linux. Like once I do get them set up they work great. But lutris, proton versions, winetricks, etc to get them working is an activity
which supports linux, and I believe takes a slightly different approach on windows so where one app might not work for one game you could try the other

Good question. Honestly I’m not sure. Windows installs wipe an NTFS partition and then dump the filesystem there, bootloader is installed and OS boots, job done. My only guess would be that the Mac installer individually hashes every file for security and verifies on write. While ensuring a perfect install and secure OS, it also leads to wildly long install times.
Full Mac updates not only usually update the entirety of the system and then run an SIP check, but often are firmware updates for the hardware, that’s why they now have a separate setup for quick security updates, which often happen in the background, without a full update required: support.apple.com/en-us/102657
Yeah I work for an emergency management SaaS company and we block outdated OSs and browsers and it’s wild how we will occasionally get pushback from potential new customers who are surprised we don’t support their outdated IT infrastructure due to the security risk
