*Looks at the 4 busted ass appliances, that were built to fall, I bought brand new 3 years ago that are barely clinging onto life. * Consumer protection huh? What a concept.
If you’re doing it for preservation and data hoarding then it’s probably worth it to redo it, but unless you’re very picky odds are there isn’t much difference depending on what you saved them as in Handbrake. If you plan on keeping the DVDs then I would watch a bit of one as it’s then play a bit of the file and if you don’t have a problem with the difference then I wouldn’t worry about it too much. DVD is only 480 SD typically anyway. I’m not an expert though, just a fellow ripper of DVDs.
Don’t forget the worst most condescending people working for Brave. I actually had one of their people antagonize me on social media years ago for not liking their invasive homepage at the time.
All the better to track you with so you have no choice but to agree and agree to their arbitration clauses if you want to use their and their competitors’ products with no alternative to avoid it. Sometimes you can’t even use the mobile site when so many services and businesses have flat out broken their mobile sites just to force the app. I don’t like DuckDuckGo’s browser but I use it to block trackers in the background.
Not me. I set up my server last November and tried Plex. It reminded me too much of too many services starting to lose their way. Given recent events it looks like I was right. We use Kodi because my partner prefers it, but I really like Jellyfin myself. It was a learning process but really only took two or three hours with research time to set up. Costs me nothing and I don’t have any ads, upselling, or any other BS that will eventually turn into more extreme attrition.
I mean stopping Windows updates is really more a win than a loss half the time. They’ve forcefully installed so much of the shitware in Windows 10 updates that makes Windows 11 awful. It took me an hour to strip all the bullshit off of my partner’s Windows 10 that he left to auto-update.
Good deal. Yeah I have few old movies or of circulation I downloaded in the 00’s in 240p that seemed fine back then but on my monitor or TV now make it look like I’m watching it on a Lite Brite.
There’s a lot of good suggestions here, but I just wanted to add that I absolutely wouldn’t rely on a random eBay seller’s warranty in any way. I made that mistake early on in my journey. I came back to find my seller had deleted their account (probably to start another and skip out on warranties).
My family still requires a couple of the services too, although they’re decreasing their usage because they love Jellyfin so much. I just had to say that the Paramount+ app is utter garbage, especially in Apple TV. Most annoying was if you triggered the left hand menu by simply trying to navigate to the left then you weren’t allowed to exit the menu without making a selection. They also deleted it ignored my watch history so the time too. Also fuck all their forced ads on ad free versions. Just because you call it a promo because it’s an ad for your service doesn’t make it less of an ad. That’s what killed it for me. $173 12th gen i-3 mini pc off Amazon+Jellyfin and I haven’t touched the Apple TV in six weeks. No problems encoding anything even 10bit outside my house. Love it.
