lars,

they should just switch to metric

Can you imagine a place that uses imperial units next to metric units, in some unholy alliance that’s clearly worse than imperial units alone? Welcome to the UK, bruv.

lars,

And the… non-WASPs knew their place. They loved it too in fact!

(I’m paraphrasing some actual things that actual people have actually said about the good old days (but I can’t remember their actual euphemisms (dysphemisms) for non-WASPs))

lars,

…and could afford houses and food

lars,

It never occurred to me that I should be grateful to have heard “heathen” used only by history professors and sarcasts.

lars,

But now I sound like I’m wearing the same rose-tinted glasses as the folks I was making fun of

lars,

Ugh. I totally get it. And I feel like my older family felt the same way about the Cold War. Like can you imagine sitting through Bay of Pigs listening for potential incoming annihilation?

lars,

Ol’ Genocide Joe doesn’t need to worry about presidential immunity in places like Palestine

lars,

Whoa — she’s super hot

Hats off to you

lars,

Spill the tea

lars,

Whoa — you’re about 8472729737382 times cooler than me. I didn’t even know such a show existed.

lars,

Sometimes God is an archer of the sadistic and micromanaging variety

lars,

Based on the Gay Porn Index™, yes, they are.

So while it’s apparently an American fetish, is “chav” an insult if used by a Brit?

Time to ditch #duckduckgo (lemmy.world)

In the last couple of months I have noticed an increasing trend of supplying me search results that are completely unrelated to the current query and tie back to my location or previous searches. I can say this with a high degree of certainty this is without a doubt beyond the 100th instance this has happened....

lars,

So like… all Searx instances are independent, but I can save my preferences in a reproducible query string? Or like… how’s this a long-term, easy, good move for me? (I know ≈nothing).

lars,

Thanks!

Do all the Searx instances generate and keep independent indexes of the entire internet, or is it more like Lemmy (where, maybe, each instance is a window into the entirety of the index)?
