Lemmy is licensed under AGPL which states that everyone can use it, there are no restrictions based on politics. Besides, “right wing” is not the same as “evil”, the real world is much more complicated than that. If you ask me, the whole right-left classification is way too simplistic and doesnt make sense anymore (if it ever did).

Remember all those CSAM attacks that were happening? They were all coming from those instances with a reputation for being soft on the right.

Is this your opinion or do you have actual evidence for this?

@nutomic@lemmy.ml avatar

This is so ridiculous I dont even know where to start.

They were posting spicy memes but thats how the internet works. If you dont like it then dont visit there, just like you wouldnt visit 4chan. Lemmy is open source so anyone can use it for any purpose.

So far these problems are mostly theoretical, in practice Github works fine. But once Forgejo gets federation working we will probably migrate to a selfhosted instance.

nutomic,
@nutomic@lemmy.ml avatar

That doesnt work because we generally cant trust remote servers. Plus we dont even know where to fetch from, so wed have to run a complete crawl of all known instances which isnt practical.

Releases are always for backend and frontend together, unless mentioned otherwise. You can check the tags in the git repos, or check the available versions on docker hub.

Telegram isn’t perfect, but it is infinitely better than Whatsapp because it doesn’t belong to Facebook, and also isn’t from the United States. Also it can be used by normies without problem, unlike Matrix or Xmpp or what have you.

Signal is based in the United States, enjoy having CIA and NSA reading all your messages.

That paper is eight years old and yet there has been no major hack of the Telegram protocol.

Can lemmy users see when they're mentioned in a microblog post from kbin? (kbin.social)

I'm trying to contact a user on lemmy, but can't dm them (it's not clear to me if this is a bug or if dms don't work across instances or software, but either way it's not working). My next workaround would be to ping them in a microblog post, but lemmy doesn't have a microblog section. Would a lemmy user receive a notification...

Lemmy only supports posts which are inside of a community.

You could go to sauna to get used to the heat, and cool yourself off in the cold bath. Sauna is generally awesome, and in Korea there are public saunas everywhere.

I tried to read that but it was way too drawn out. I think I made it to page 200 or so and he didnt even leave his village yet. And it has 1000 pages. That was years ago so numbers might be wrong.

Because we dont want to moderate porn, simple as that. Other instances are free to do this differently.
