I try to contribute to things getting better, sometimes through polite rational skepticism.
Disagreeing with your comment ≠ supporting the opposite side, I support rationality.
Let’s discuss to refine the arguments that make things better sustainably.
Always happy to question our beliefs.

And inheritance is one of the biggest source of inequalities hence why Piketty proposes a massive tax on inheritance to be redistributed equally as a universel basic inheritance to young people. There are hard core scientific papers behind it but this is a popularized article I have found: goodmenproject.com/…/fairer-taxes-and-inheritance…. Problem is inheritance is an extremely touchy topic, most people have the deeply rooted instinct to give everything to there children and can’t think rationally about it.

How much is moving around a lot? Because 2-3 years turn over is pretty common in IT and it doesn’t seem to prevent being hired. It may even be considered as better experience than the one of an engineer that worked on a single system for 10 years.

I am a mid career enginer, I was requested two references, one colleague and one manager, for my current job.

What is your reason for telling your manager to fuck off? Ego satisfaction for 5 min? What about thinking that if you tell him what went wrong, maybe they can improve, which may improve the work conditions of your ex colleagues? I find that more satisfying. I always try to raise my voice to improve my ex-colleagues conditions before I leave because I’m freer to speak up.

Tell you manager what went wrong politely if necessary, being rude in a professional setting may look cool in some fantasy but nothing good will come out of it.

I think you appreciate the piece in a different way, it’s less magic and more knowledge.

Reminds me of learning to play a piece of music you love. By the time you master it, it seems all the magic has disappeared.

I think it’s even stronger, because sometimes you’ll repeat the same 10 seconds a thousand time to master it until you feel like jumping out of the window.

Essentialism (you’re not born a bear so you will never be) vs social constructivism (the environment is making you live like a bear so you’ve become a bear).

We would definitely be affected by a strong enough solar flare. But the solution is simple, just burry yourself, in a Faraday cage if necessary, so the AI can do just that.

I think some of it is the mental load expectation to go back to a difficult process. I find using genAI to start the task allows the load to come more progressively.

I was skeptical thank you for the confirmation. Especially because the time it takes to lock depends on the relative size of the bodies. Our moon being exceptionally big relatively to our planet, if it has locked, then relatively smaller moons should have locked long before.
Btw, the locking is not perfect, there’s a little oscillation of the moon called libration, so we can actually see about 59% of it over the years.

Then I think they weren’t very good scholars. I find Christian scholars like the Jesuits very talented in twisting the language and ideas until it fits their ideology.
Besides, I do think interpretation is required to read such books without taking silly interpretation shortcuts, but I’d rather have it from a secular religion history researcher.
Edit: I was thinking about this scholastic system of education from the Middle Ages that made them so good at this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disputation

Depends if someone feeds you interpretation at the same time.
