Stalwart v0.5.2 (stalw.art)

We are thrilled to announce the release of Stalwart Mail Server 0.5.2, which brings two significant advancements: the integration of the ACME protocol for automatic TLS certificate deployment and support for the HAProxy Protocol. These features mark a substantial step forward in our commitment to enhancing the security and...

isnt this just a blogging app that does video?

originalucifer,
@originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

yeah, blogging + video. you can call the video whatever you want, but its still video sourced from your blog/app from you alone.

its a blog + video.

originalucifer,
@originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

dont want to get into a semantic argument about how you distribute data. but if you have a site where you post your own personal shit all the time, including 'streaming', youre doing nothing different than 'blogs' from 20 years ago. the number of viewsers/casters is irrelevant.

yes, i love all the new tech. its just funny how we keep renaming the same pieces.

streaming is just yesterdays podcasts which were everyones vlogs before that. its all the same shit.

i just found it funny they owncast guy claimed to not be able to 'talk' about his 'blog + video'

originalucifer,
@originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

and its great, i am not disparaging anyones hobbies here... i ran into these exact distribution issues running a public IP radio back in '01

i wish we could stop reinventing the wheel sometimes

originalucifer,
@originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

it was about communication. we want to struggle so hard against calling it something we dont want, its now labeled 'difficult to describe'. which i find silly

originalucifer,
@originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

haha

"the cloud" does not change the fact that if you data does not reside in 2 physical locations you do not have a backup.

so yes, standard practices that have existed... well, since the beginning, still apply.

i had a thought about this.. ive been watching lower decks

the emergence of new life forms seems almost trivial to everyone.. its something that happens all the time.

for some perspective, humans are pulled out of other humans at hypothetical, but totally realistic rate of something like 1000 babies/hour... the 'miracle of life' at volume.

for each one of these humans, its clearly a momentous occasion. in aggregate, not so much.

edit: duuude its actually closer to 16,000/hour. damn

i got one no one seems to have heard of, but its a series by a bunch of writers, and it was stitched together by none other than George RR Martin..

The WildCard series... i just love the different writing styles across the different characters...and its an amazing universe.. i highly recommend it

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Cards

the short is: alien race f's up a non trivial percent of the human population with a virus.. most die. what neat is the mish-mash of history with a new minority of deformed humans. i think it starts in ~1947 running through the 90s.

British writer Neil Gaiman met with Martin in 1987 and pitched a Wild Cards story about a character who lives in a world of dreams. Martin declined due to Gaiman's lack of prior credits at the time. Gaiman went on to publish his story as The Sandman.

start small, and you should be able to do it no problem.

first off, ignore the wd. its storage. you dont want your storage and your processing mixing (i wouldnt anyway)

  • find yourself an old, shitty pc with >=4gb of ram, processor irrelevant.
  • slap a small ssd in, or dont. install linux
  • install docker
  • start installin containers

lots of available, preconfigured containers with instruction over at:
https://hub.docker.com

when you get your containers functional you can connect your media software (jellfyin) to the wd storage

id be shocked if that p4 had 4gb of ram though
