penquin,

There is nothing else. OSK sucks on Linux. I wish I knew how to fucking code, I’d make my own.

penquin,

My honest opinion? Neither. Just go with something that works out of the box like Linux mint until you’re done with school then you’ll have time to mess with your system. That’s what I did for a friend of mine when he went to college. Gave him a laptop with mint on it and never heard a single complaint from him. It has everything he needs. Focus on school now and worry about distros later.

Is anyone here using their hardware TPM chips for credentials?

I’m curious about the possible uses of the hardware Trusted Protection Module for automatic login or transfer encryption. I’m not really looking to solve anything or pry. I’m just curious about the use cases as I’m exploring network attached storage and to a lesser extent self hosting. I see a lot of places where public...

penquin,

Ok this is scary. Lol Unless you have those backup keys then it’s a bit better.

penquin,

It scares me. What if the chip dies? How am I gonna be able to get my stuff? I don’t fully understand how it works, but where is the encryption saved? On the chip itself or somewhere else?

penquin, (edited )

“Race mixing is communism”. Lmao How? Stupid has always been strong in thr the US.

penquin,

Nice. I keep forgetting to install it. Plasma is snappy as is

penquin,

Everything apple and Samsung helped remove from phones to squeeze mode pennies out of their customers. Headphone jack, micro SD card slot, ir blaster… etc

penquin,

I already fucking struggle with understanding English since it’s my second language, and with this new shit sound, it’s now fucking worse. I used to be able to do without subtitles most of the time, but now I can’t watch shit without it.

Marketing Company Claims That It Actually Is Listening to Your Phone and Smart Speakers to Target Ads (www.404media.co)

A marketing team within media giant Cox Media Group (CMG) claims it has the capability to listen to ambient conversations of consumers through embedded microphones in smartphones, smart TVs, and other devices to gather data and use it to target ads, according to a review of CMG marketing materials by 404 Media and details from a...

penquin,

lol. Was that a real thing? Never heard of it. I wasn’t born in the US, so I might have not seen it

penquin,

I know for a fact that you’re wrong. You just are. I have never bought a single thing based on an ad, period.

penquin,

I said “I’ve never met a person”… then “every human being I know”. Does that count as generalizing? This is basically my circle of the people I know.

penquin,

Thank you!!! I’ve always said that. If you need to advertise it so hard then it’ll probably suck.

penquin,

If you say generalize within my circle of people that I know then yes I agree with you, but generalizing in general means everyone, even those I don’t know and have never met, and I didn’t say that. So, literally not yes. lol

penquin,

This makes a lot of sense. Thank you

penquin,

I’ve never met a person in my life that was convinced by an ad to buy something. I know I never have and never will, I actually stay away from things that are advertised to me. So these fucking brainless fucks are literally wasting their money and energy on ads. Every human being I know loaths ads and would love to erase them from existence. When will they ever get this?

penquin,

So, my device/bandwidth is basically a tunnel so to speak that helps push the video (that is saved on the uploader’s server" to others? So peertube only uses my Internet and my device’s CPU?

penquin,

Thank you. I just want to watch, no more no less and I’m ok with using my bandwidth to push the video around if that helps, since my ISP doesn’t have that bullshit cap. And by bandwidth we are talking Internet, right?

penquin,

I want to use it but I don’t fully understand how it works. Does it use my device a storage for videos? Or does it only use it as a sharing device without storing the video on it? Does it only use the bandwidth on my device? Could someone please explain? I already read about it, but I’m still lost

Shortcomings and regressions in Plasma 6 wayland for artists using and configuring graphic tablets

While cutting edge testing distribution such as Fedora are going Wayland only and the proponents of such move say that this push is required to shake things out. I would like to highlight some of the things which are not there yet on the graphic tablet configuration front on plasma wayland. Although the basic support for the...

penquin, (edited )

Is this only Fedora or is it Linux in general ditching Wayland on plasma? Also, will people be able to reinstall xorg and will it work fine? Wayland is not usable for me and I use plasma. This would be a big blow for me if I can’t use xorg. I use emdeavourOS. Are we good there?

penquin,

I am trying to install kde neon in a VM to try plasma 6 and actually test and report bugs, too, and the installer launches into a completely transparent window and I can’t proceed from there. Tried to install opensuse krypton, it was taking so long to install I actually gave up and quit the install.
