They can’t garnish disability benefits, they can only garnish wages.

The group made far more than that, and of course he would downplay the amount himself to make his portion look less.

They sold millions of copies of a hardware for over $50. The group made mint and there was 3 of them.

He made far more than that selling the hack. Weird to be mad about him being fined.

What do you think the springs are activating?

schmidtster, to memes in The future is now

And then the weaker springs don’t have the force required to cut paper that is adequate to dry your hands.

Or people are putting in too low quality of paper into the machine. The paper has to be strong enough to active the mechanism, they already say two hands since one usually rips before being able to pull it down.

Signs of the times, there was usually only 1 tv so they had to make the media touch everyone. Now a days they can actually make media just for kids, since the parents can watch something else.

schmidtster, (edited ) to lemmyshitpost in Just speak normally

Most people I know would simply say 9:45 instead of 1/4 to 10 when looking at an analog clock. We were taught to mentally do some minor math, same habits, just better I guess.

schmidtster, to lemmyshitpost in Just speak normally

Because that means the person is old and can’t count from 10 to 9 and change 1/4 to 3/4?

Same energy as losing your glasses on your head or your phone for a flashlight to look for phone.

Everyone makes follies like this, we just like to pretend we are better and can’t.

schmidtster, to programmer_humor in Programmer tries to explain binary search to the police

I get the sentiment, but you want them to waste public resources doing it on all these different clunky uis and software? Sometimes these take minutes to load new information to parse.

Maybe waste your time pinpointing it instead of expecting public resources to do what you could do for them?

Written has ambiguity, spoken doesn’t. One has to be standardized and the other doesn’t.

The topic is about written, not spoken since we all completely comprehend this.

schmidtster, to mildlyinteresting in This package of bagels I bought expired on a date that doesn't exist.

Is this about spoken words or written words…?

The ISO is an organization trying to get everyone on the same page, they are the accepted standard globally. If you see ISO and you go against it, you better have a damn good reason and you’ll be liable everytime.

schmidtster, to risa in The Department of Temporal Investigations is on the case

Is everyone dressed up at these fairs?

I don’t see how a few people in trek costumes would crush immersion if plain clothes people don’t either. It’s both or neither, not one or the other.
