schmidtster, (edited ) to memes in Magic school bus. What have they done to you...

Signs of the times, there was usually only 1 tv so they had to make the media touch everyone. Now a days they can actually make media just for kids, since the parents can watch something else.

Too bad they don’t see the hypocrisy of them doing the same with tax loopholes.

schmidtster, to asklemmy in Which items/products were you once able to get from local shops on a whim that you now more or less have to order online?

So glad we still have a few of those kicking around in our city, but they just can’t compete unfortunately.

I try supporting local, but I’m not spending 25% more just to do that.

That is how they are built, and how does everyone having as even of a chance as possible make for a bad experience?

Putting a bias like the parent comment is claiming is what will make the experience bad. Yeah you’ll get grumpy that you get paired with someone who has no defence, but they are also paired with you for a reason, they are a liability in other places.

I find the people that complain it’s a bad experience are the ones that are the most sore about a loss, they are the ones that just want to steam roll everyone so they can have fun while causing others peoples experiences to be diminished so they can be the ones having fun. Don’t be this person.

At least there will be lots of ice for the bevies you’ll need.

I’m curious why he doesn’t talk about all the patents that specify locking as a feature. Even modern patents reference the features of older ones in their designs if they use them.

He used all modern plugs you would find on houses in 2000+, of course none of them lock the old way. Go grab some from the 20s and 30s.

Is everyone dressed up at these fairs?

I don’t see how a few people in trek costumes would crush immersion if plain clothes people don’t either. It’s both or neither, not one or the other.

There will also be people who abuse it for nefarious means as well. Even if purchasing is easy.

They of course use these 2% to justify vilifying the rest though.

schmidtster, to memes in I'll do it tomorrow I swear

There’s always solutions, you also don’t need to sort it that way either. It being in one hamper is just as acceptable. But there is perception from other people to take into account.

schmidtster, to piracy in Does the idea of this concern anyone else? Why is no one talking about it?

For a while Sony TVs didn’t allow the playback of .MKVs because they were the most pirated format.

It’s kinda the Media Players choice what formats they want to support in the end.

schmidtster, to lemmyshitpost in I don't get it

Some grapes are considered sour instead of sweet, but I get your point, not the first choice I would go with either.

schmidtster, to mildlyinteresting in this plug doesn't have the little holes

If it’s for manufacturing why are some made without them?

Theres patents out there, I don’t know why technology connection did his own experiments on modern plugs instead of a modicum of research about receptacles.

schmidtster, to memes in Utterly insane

He made far more than that selling the hack. Weird to be mad about him being fined.

schmidtster, to asklemmy in Which items/products were you once able to get from local shops on a whim that you now more or less have to order online?

Marks or any cobbler will have those.

schmidtster, to programmer_humor in Programmer tries to explain binary search to the police

I get the sentiment, but you want them to waste public resources doing it on all these different clunky uis and software? Sometimes these take minutes to load new information to parse.

Maybe waste your time pinpointing it instead of expecting public resources to do what you could do for them?
