I recently just switched to Pop! and it’s so crazy how much fun linux is now! I was pulling my hair out at Ubuntu because of things like Snaps, trying to get nvidia to work, and so many weird quirks. (My audio just had a low buzzing noise until I reconfigured Pulse, scaling had to be manually set in a config file, I had to change a few nvidia configs to get my games to play at over 30fps, and no native flatpak integration obviously because of snaps)
But with Pop everything just works! Flatpaks are in the pop shop, the distro had an option with nvidia configured out of the box, it’s been the easiest linux setup I’ve ever had. I need to go deeper into the weeds with Fedora and Arch, but goddamn Pop is going to be my go-to from here on out.
I’ve thought that too. If they made a tiny truck, like an old style 90s ranger or tacoma but as an EV? I’d buy that tomorrow. Literally tomorrow I’d go buy it. But of course they don’t, they’re all these monstrously sized bohemoths that I have no interest in driving.
Until they make my dream tiny truck I’ll just go rent one.
Transit projects ALWAYS go over budget and over time. That’s just what happens.
But they are never regretted after they are built. Those expenses are only terrible to people as they are built but as soon as it’s done people can’t imagine how they lived before it. Transit projects always at least break even in the long run. They really are “if you build it they will come”
Or, and hear me out, I can rent a truck for the one time a year I need one. 20 bucks for a few hours from uhaul vs… 20,000 more for a big truck over a commuter car.
Ah I wonder what indicators you use when you first meet people to immediately judge if they are worthy or not. What subtle deep in your mind factors decide if someone deserves it.
Then you shouldn’t just vote republican or democrat, but as an american. I don’t label myself as either one - but over the last several elections the choice has been obviously democrat because of the republicans trying to seize power so much. If they could modernize their platform at all I would think about voting for them - but they’re stuck in the 1950s.
So to cut power stop voting on party lines. Show that you’ll vote based on who has the best ideas, not a simple “I’ll always vote R”
Exactly. You can say please and thank you all you want, hold doors open for people, smile at them on the sidewalk, but that’s all thrown in the garbage if you aren’t willing to actually do something to help people.
Welfare is a great example - most republicans use the “it’s being abused” line as their go-to reason that it should be scrapped. Being a good person is knowing that it is being abused - but the value of it helping people outweighs the 1ish percent of people who are on it and abuse it.
If you are republican you believe in cutting social safety nets, pro war, anti gun regulation, and anti lgbtq. I view all of those as “bad people traits”. I don’t think anyone who can say they are for gutting welfare can also say they are a good person at heart.
