Maybe you’re not subscribed to many places, I see it everywhere in my feeds. For what it’s worth I rarely see it on Lemmy outside of meme and politics communities.
It’s a very beginner-friendly distro, similar in goals to Linux Mint but more modern. It’s stable, comes pre-installed with graphics drivers and important apps like Wine, a custom clean version of Gnome or XFCE, and having a lot of UX improvements like explaining what Wine is the first time you open an exe file, and providing popular alternatives for the app you’re trying to install.
There’s nothing brand new about it, it’s just really solid and I do recommend it as people’s first distro.
Assuming this isn’t a troll post, why wouldn’t it be possible? Not everything has an open source alternative that’s nearly as good. I use Linux, I like open source, but I still use Discord and google services and occasionally a bunch of other closed source apps like Steam. Not everything ever made has to be open source.
It’s a cat and mouse game with Google. Sometimes Piped works, other times it loads only the first minute of the video before hanging forever, and sometimes it doesn’t load at all. Often YouTube makes an updates that breaks it altogether until someone fixes it.
I’ve had the most luck with NewPipe but unfortunately it’s only a mobile app, not a website. Works great though.
If you have a normal social life it’s honestly expected that a couple of people will leak your phone number (and contact name). Nothing you can really do about it. Happened to me many times.
This has been the trend for the last decade now. I’ve been avoiding trailers for ages, and many studios like putting straight up spoilers in them. If I’m already interested in a movie I skip trailers completely and just go to watch it.
Last time I tried to mess with Windows partition I tried to expand it to merge free space in my C:\ drive, but I couldn’t do that because Windows put the recovery partition in the middle, with no permission to remove it. Had to jump through a million hoops to get Windows to remove it.
I mean sure, Windows is easier in many ways. Not partition management. Anything but that. What a pain.
