Sure do, though not for all the claims I’ll make here as that was from me obsessively watching the purism forumns and reddit over the 5 or so years this was going on. They promised a phone which most people didn’t get for five years. When it shipped the specs were not great especially for the already pricy cost they had it at. This, after quite heavily suggesting they were nearly good to go. When it came close to the end of waiting, they added a second option (no phones were in hands yet) to upgrade their order, at a cost, to skip the line and get it quicker. Suggesting that if it didn’t sell the company couldn’t ship the original either after taking money both from a crowdfunding campaign and their site. Though a few were eventually able to refund, they sneakily changed their policy to include “no refunds” when at time of purchase they stated clearly refunds would be available at request. There’s also been an issue with their laptops which were advertised as fully FOSS, etirely non-proprietary before eventually shipping with some proprietary software. All around, their customer service is terrible and their responces to allagations and critisism has been childish threats and legal attacks. All around bad group.
If you’re willing to import, tuxedo computers is another great choice. I can personally vouch for framework but I’d caution if you’re looking for the 16, it’ll be a bit before they’re available. 13ish batches pre-ordered, with batch one shipping in a few weeks, it may take quite a bit to get. The 13 though is in stock and shouldn’t take too long to recieve
Edit: oh sorry, 13 inch is your preference. I’d strongly vouch for framework. I’d also say stay away from purism due to their scummy history on the phone if you care about that.
Not to sound condescending, but I’d like to caution against this language. Mint is a perfectly fine OS to run permanently and never look back, and you absolutely can take a bigger bite while never having to install another OS. Distros are for the most part just a jumping off point and a set of defaults.
Nah, as an arch user most people don’t likely need it. Mints a great option. No matter what you do with arch (even endeavor) there’ll always be alot of setup, by design, and with how fast things move they’ll break commonly. Like the grub issue a bit back, or the kernal that could have caused screens to die, or more recently the nvidia drivers forcing many screens to be stuck at one brightness.
I love arch, it’s a testing bed for the linux ecosystem. The first place where things exit beta and interact with each other in the wild. It’s definitly not what most people want for a computer though especially not for work. That’s why I duel boot with OpenSuse tumbleweed for my contract work (also, separating work and regular life makes things easier but that’s not relevent)
Mastadon had a similar issue before the blowup. It’s not possible to stop in a completely open source and federated service. By design, anybody can join in, and create a new instance to do with as they please
If you want to make it better we need more servers that block this trash, and who have larger user-bases than the current ones. Create quality content on reasonable instances, advertise these sites, and bring other creators in
I was in that situation a while ago, so I booted in to try and keep it up to date. Well, in reality I booted into recovery mode as it decided to die. Anyway I’m now duel booting arch and tumbleweed
0.69% (nice) on windows 7 64bit. That’s 0.75% total or 0.91% including windows 8 which is also dying. This is slightly under half of the linux user base according to these statistics
You should delete the contents of the cache folder instead of the folder itself as sadly some apps will break pretty spectacularly if they can’t find the folder itself. Otherwise you’re entirely correct
Well, he isn’t anyone’s boss here. I agree, and so would linus nowadays, that this is toxic and should be avoided, but the anger I fully understand.
Attempting to shift blame away from yourself after making a change which breaks a large portion of user space is cause for termination at any company I’ve worked at. It’s cowardice. This action goes against one of the most important, core philosophies, of the kernal. Do not break userspace. Also, this person should know better. They are not some odd newbie who may not grasp the ideas yet.
In a world where termination is not an option harsh criticism is required. This though, I agree, was anger driven unprofessionalism
Oh shit, so the country of canada has done it once before denouncing it and a single member of parliament has a history of defending her grandfather, who was not only a nazi but an author for a propaganda newspaper stolen from a Jewish guy.
I stand by the “only happened once” thing though. Your second argument is a singular member, who should of course be removed along with the speaker. It also has nothing to do with the current government of Ukraine.
The first is an embarrassment to canada and an action for which we as a whole and our legislator are partially responcible. The second is just one person, who is scum.
Glad you brought this to my attention though. Nationalism in all forms is a disgrace.
Indo wish you had given me a link to that quote though. In the future, if you quote something, provide the source. It seems like you’re hiding something when you don’t, which it seems you weren’t
