Is that really a thing? I don’t usually get into discussions about DEs that often, and pretty much never irl. So I haven’t seen any general vibe at all.
Like, my impression of kde vs gnome is that they’re both very geared towards a more general user that’s going to be doing basic things, but with the ability to go more advanced as needed. I kinda assumed they were both going to draw people that are “basic” like the images in the meme for gnome, with cinnamon users also being in that range, where something like xfce would be for folks that want a bit more modularity and “hackiness”.
I’m not being a smartass, I just don’t really know if there’s more to the meme than just a bit of fun or not.
Yeah, hate to break it to you, but it isn’t even just women/girls using it for platonic friends. Men/boys are too.
Not too surprisingly, that hasn’t happened with boyfriend that I’ve run across. Which is kinda fucked up when you consider what the difference in usage represents.
That’s blast doors of an unspecified metal. If it follows the usual SW materials where such things are specified, they wouldn’t be exotic materials, they’d be alloys of standard metals on the real periodic table.
That’s why I say that I’m giving the benefit of the doubt to the light saber. They reach plasma temps, which is hot as hell, but wolvie has taken hits from plasma generated by technology and super powers. If it was a sustained thing, maybe; but a fight doesn’t allow for sustained contact.
I mean, obviously, it would depend on who was in charge of the writing decisions. But us nerds have to guesstimate as best we can. In SW universe there are exotics that can resist the sabers both under short and sustained contact. Adamantium is pretty exotic, and is canon about as close to indestructible as it gets.
Light sabers aren’t really meant to be unstoppable, they’re not an ultimate weapon. They’re a high tech, very effective sword that uses coherent energy that generates high heat on contact. There’s limits the what they can do.
It’s one of those things where sabers have been written to have limits more often than Adamantium has, so I err on that side of things.
Nah, in canon, it’s been shown to be resistant to similar types of coherent energy. It might slightly mar the surface because of the heat, but it wouldn’t cut it. And even the heat thing is my giving the light saber properties beyond what’s shown in film and in books.
Windows 10. I was originally okay with another windows version rather than just updates, and then my dad put it on his as an “upgrade” from 7. It was utter shit. Took an old but serviceable pc and turned it into fucking molasses. And that’s not even the worst of the bullshit, as it turned out.
So, I grabbed some CDs and burned on some distros and tried shit out. I liked what I found, with the exception of audio.
I’m definitely not obsessed. I don’t have brand loyalty, even when the brand is free as in beer. And I’m not evangelical in that I don’t inject linux into every fucking computer related conversation. But I do speak up for the fact that we aren’t stuck with only windows and no other options, and that I prefer Linux overall.
Now, I am a bit zealous about how much I fucking hate Microsoft and windows, but that’s a separate issue imo. But, again, I don’t inject that into every conversation.
I kinda dig the bland crust. Not for eating, but for not eating. Like, sometimes you’d rather your calories come from toppings, and saving the crust for the next day to dip in those shitty marinara cups when you’re tired as hell is a good thing.
Like, not often, but sometimes.
Then again, we don’t do pizza often, and it’s usually when all adults are fucking wrecked via some bullshit or another that pushed us past our limits (both me and my wife are disabled, and my dad is old as fuck lol). If we want pizza to really enjoy I make it myself, or order it from the two yankees that set up a shop in town.
I dunno, it’s kinda rolling the dice. You can get really lucky sometimes. Even if the person doesn’t necessarily care about the stuff, they pick up what other people say, and would know what gets bought the most. That’s better than nothing at times.
And then you can get really lucky and find someone that knows their shit.
So it never hurts to ask, though you may get an actual eye roll lol
Eh, it’s part politics, but also part the way he treats people, including his children. Not a good person outside of his public persona, if all reports are true.
We’re not talking some kind of rapist here, just being an asshole to people that he had no need to be an asshole to, mostly employees.
The political shit is absolutely true, btw, he’s made the statements supporting the ccp and against Hong Kong independence publicly, but I don’t really count that against someone that lives in and/or is from the areas, just not my business (regardless of disagreeing).
The other stuff is fairly well known, but it’s mostly “alleged” because there’s no proof for every bit of it. But you can find the parts about him and his son easy enough, and make your own judgement there.
Waaay less. I’ve never heard of any issues with it being a common thing at all. Tbh, I’ve never known anyone to get tagged for it. I never have, even before I started using a vpn for everything.
