XOrg Server and Xwayland Patched Against Multiple Security Vulnerabilities - 9to5Linux (9to5linux.com)

Even if your distro is using Wayland by default, the Xwayland implementation is probably still used for compatibility with X11 apps, so you still need to patch your systems and make sure that the latest version is installed.

superbirra,

which is in fact the only productive choice one can do :) when distro will force switch, then we will see

superbirra,

yeah, also microsoft does a lot of charity and, unlike Stallman, their executives wash their feet

superbirra,

lol some myth you apparently use it for since it does not look like a bit of things are properly understood here ;)

superbirra,

and it should be preferred to vm because…

superbirra,

a suggestion of what ? :)

it always fascinates me when somebody tells about something they do and ppl first of any other reaction spits out how they should do instead. Not interesting at all and often annoying if it isn’t at least preceded by a “I find it interesting you did choose this approach, mind to share thenwhy and more details?” :D

superbirra,

I’m using it since after the reddit fiasco, no ads as of now so I’m happy with the free version :)

superbirra,

none

superbirra,

it’s posix shell, also it produces an output similar to your post unlike watch, which everyone is rushing to point out as if it were the ultimate superninja haxxor secret tool that nobody knows about :DDD

Stalwart v0.5.2 (stalw.art)

We are thrilled to announce the release of Stalwart Mail Server 0.5.2, which brings two significant advancements: the integration of the ACME protocol for automatic TLS certificate deployment and support for the HAProxy Protocol. These features mark a substantial step forward in our commitment to enhancing the security and...

superbirra,

they are probably listed in a longer readme which is not shown at every new feature release. Or not, who knows. If we only had a place where to look…

superbirra,

lol, no :)

first of all, it only searches for occurrences in already installed packages and is more or less a grep -l xxx /var/lib/dpkg/info/*.list. So you can’t use it in order to determine which package to install, for that you use packages.debian.org or apt-file instead.

Secondly, what you search for isn’t relative to anything (wtf):

$ dpkg-query -S /etc/grub.d/
fwupd, grub-common: /etc/grub.d

Hardware security key options?

I've been thinking about getting a hardware security key and have heard of yubikey before; but I want to see what my options are and if they are worth it in your opinion.
My current setup is a local KeePassXC database (that I sync between my PC and phone and also acts as TOTP authenticator app), I know that KeePass supports hardware keys for unlocking the database.

I am personally still of the belief that passwords are the safest when done right; but 2FA/MFA can greatly increase security on top of that (again, if done right).
The key work work together with already existing passwords, not replace them.

As I use linux as my primary OS I do expect it to support it and anything that doesn't I will have to pass on.

PS: what are the things I need to know about these hardware keys that's not being talked about too much, I am very much delving into new territory and want to make sure I'm properly educated before I delve in.

superbirra,

keepass2android also work

superbirra,

and I say yay, as long as you don’t expect me to become one too

superbirra,

Ok, but you better be prepared for the fact that I don’t give a shit :)

How to pull rocks out of pipe in the ground?

My mom has a hole in the ground that she puts her clothes drying hanger in. Like this. The hole in the ground is a 2" or so pipe, set in concrete. The pipe has filled with gravel. Anyone have a tip on getting the rocks out? I can only get so many out using my fingers and then trying to use a set of chopsticks.

superbirra,

If OP is in the US – which I assume he is, from the inch measurement

eh, they could live as well in Liberia or Myanmar

superbirra,

yeah, but the time of web forums with losers banning you because you couldn’t find a post from 17 years earlier on the same subject is long gone. YAY!
